GEOMETRIC OPTICS
Aim:
To determine the critical angle of a semi-circular glass prism.
Observations:
If the light ray shines perpendicular to the prism, it will move
through it without being refracted. If the prism is rotated, the
light is refracted at the straight surface, away from the normal.
At a certain angle of incidence the refracted ray runs along the
straight surface of the prism.
GEOMETRIC OPTICS
Conclusions:
The critical angle = angle of incidence when the angle of
refraction is 90°.
