Silent Letter B
B is silent when it comes after the letter m at the end of
a word, as in lamb, climb, bomb,thumb. Less commonly,
silent B can occur when B precedes the letter t, as in
debt, doubt,subtle.

after the letter S and is followed by E or I .
For example ascend, muscle, scent,
science, obscene.

as in catch. Finally, certain loanwords that come
from French maintain a silent T at the end of a

Silent Letter W
W is silent when it comes before the letter r, as in wrap,
wreck, wrist, wrestle, write. When W follows the vowels A, E,
or O and either ends ends the word or is followed by a
consonant, it is no longer distinctly pronounced. Instead, it
usually serves to alter the vowel or else elongate the sound
into a dipthong. For example bow, drawl, fawn, flew, grow,
strewn.
