TOPIC: SQUARE ROOTS

WALT
1. Explore the concept of square roots.
2. Identify the steps involved in calculating the
square roots of numbers.
3. Calculate the square roots of numbers.

WILF:
4. I can explain what square roots mean.
5. I can state the procedure for calculating the
square roots of numbers.
6. I can calculate the square roots of numbers.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF SQUARE ROOTS
You can
think of a
number
that when
multiplied
together
will give
you a
particular
number.
…but you cannot always guess
so lets learn how you can find
the square root of a number
using the
division method.

Steps involved in calculating the square of numbers

Step 1: Rule a division line and write the number you intend to find its
square.
Step 2: Divide continuously using prime numbers
Step 3: Write out all the prime numbers you used and group them into
groups.
Step 4: pick out one numbers from each group.
Step 5: Multiply all the numbers you picked out and you have
your answer.
