2. WHAT DEVICES DO YOU USE FOR DIFFERENT TYPES
OF ENTERTAINMENT? DISCUSS YOUR IDEAS IN PAIRS,
GIVING REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE.
•Smartphones: Great for on-the-go entertainment like social media, games, and streaming music or videos.
They’re portable and multifunctional.
•Tablets: Ideal for reading e-books, watching movies, or browsing the internet. Larger screens enhance
viewing experiences compared to smartphones.
•Laptops: Perfect for gaming, streaming, and productivity. They offer more power for high-quality
games and editing software.
•Smart TVs: Best for watching movies and shows with family or friends. They often have apps for
streaming services built in.
•Game Consoles: Designed for gaming, they provide immersive experiences and often connect to
online gaming communities.
•E-Readers: Specifically for reading books. lightweight and can hold thousands of titles,
making them convenient for readers. They’re
3. WHAT OTHER FORMS OF ENTERTAINMENT CAN
YOU ACCESS USING DIGITAL DEVICES? MAKE A

4.A. HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND ON DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT
EACH WEEKDAY? IS IT MORE OR LESS THAN AT THE WEEKEND?
HOW MANY HOURS A WEEK IN TOTAL DO YOU SPEND ENJOYING
DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT? DOES IT VARY FROM WEEK TO WEEK?
•Weekdays: I typically spend about 2-4 hours a day on digital entertainment, including things like
streaming shows, playing games, and browsing social media.
•Weekends: On weekends, I usually spend more time, around 4-8 hours a day,
since I have more free time to relax and enjoy my favorite activities.
•Weekly Total: In total, I probably spend around 14-30 hours a week enjoying digital entertainment.
•Variability: Yes, my time spent on digital entertainment can vary from week to week.
Some weeks are busier with work or social commitments, so I might have less time, while other weeks
might allow for more leisure time.
B. COMPARE YOUR ANSWERS AS A GROUP. DO OTHER
GROUP MEMBERS SPEND MORE, LESS OR ABOUT THE
SAME AMOUNT OF TIME AS YOU ON DIGITAL
ENTERTAINMENT?
Prince (me): I’d say I spend a decent amount of time on digital
entertainment—maybe a few hours a day between gaming and streaming
shows.
Brian: I think I spend a bit more time than you, Prince. I’m really into
gaming, so it can easily stretch to four or five hours, especially on
weekends.
Logan: Honestly, I probably spend about the same as you, Prince. Some
days I’m glued to my phone for social media, and other days I’m not on
much at all.
Tania: I’m probably on the lower end of the spectrum. I enjoy my shows
and games, but I try to limit my screen time to focus on other hobbies too.
Prince: So it sounds like we’re all over the place, but it balances out!
C. DOES ANYONE LIMIT HOW MUCH TIME YOU SPEND
USING DIGITAL DEVICES? IF SO, WHO? WHAT IS THE
TIME LIMIT?
Prince (me): I try to limit my screen time a bit, especially on weekdays. I
aim for around two hours after school.
Brian: I don’t really have a set limit. If I’m in the middle of a game or a
show, I tend to lose track of time!
Logan: I try to limit myself too, but it’s tough. I usually set a timer for
three hours, but sometimes I ignore it.
Tania: I’m more strict about it. I limit myself to an hour on weekdays and
maybe two on weekends. I just find it helps me focus on other things!
Prince: Sounds like we all have different approaches, but it’s interesting
how we manage our time!
D. WHY DO YOU THINK ADULTS SOMETIMES LIMIT
YOUNG PEOPLE’S ACCESS TO DIGITAL
ENTERTAINMENT?
Prince (me): I think adults limit access because they worry about how
much time we spend on screens. They want to make sure we’re staying
active and social in real life.
Brian: Yeah, plus there’s the whole concern about content. They want to
protect us from stuff that isn’t appropriate.
Logan: Definitely! And I think they also want us to focus on schoolwork
and other responsibilities instead of just gaming or binge-watching shows.
Tania: That makes sense. They probably remember how easy it was to get
distracted, and they want us to develop healthy habits early on.
Prince: It’s all about finding a balance, I guess!
5. WORK IN PAIRS. IMAGINE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN ASKED TO PLAN A THREE-HOUR
ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT EVENT FOR TEENAGERS FOR NEXT WEEKEND. WHAT
WOULD YOU INCLUDE IN YOUR SCHEDULE OF DIGITAL ACTIVITIES AND WHY? USE
ANY IDEAS THAT YOU LIKE FROM THE ACTIVITIES IN THIS SECTION, AND ANY
OTHER IDEAS YOU CAN THINK OF. CREATE A POSTER SHOWING YOUR PROGRAMME
OF DIGITAL EVENTS.
7. THINK ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME. HOW
MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND DOING THESE ACTIVITIES DURING THE
WEEK AND THE WEEKEND? COPY THE TABLE AND COMPLETE THE
‘ME’ COLUMNS. THEN TALK WITH A PARTNER AND ADD THEIR
INFORMATION TO YOUR TABLE.
