PIECEWISE FUNCTION
PIECEWISE FUNCTION DEFINITION
• A piecewise function is one that has various definitions or functions for
every interval. Piece is another instance of it. Pieces of functions for each area of the domain are used to define the function. HOW TO SOLVE PIECEWISE FUNCTIONS?
•How can we ensure that we return the
correct value for the function given x now that we are aware of this special function? Here are some pointers to keep in mind when evaluating and solving for piecewise functions: •Double-check where x lies in the given interval. •Evaluate the value using the corresponding function. ABSOLUTE VALUE FUNCTION ABSOLUTE VALUE FUNCTION DEFINITION
• An algebraic expression using absolute bar symbols is the definition of
the absolute value function. Such operations are frequently used to determine the separation between two points. Examples of absolute value functions include the following: • f(x) = |x| • g(x) = |3x - 7| • f(x) = |-x + 9| • All the above given absolute value functions have non-negative values, that is, their range is all real numbers except negative numbers. All these functions change their nature (increasing or decreasing) after a point. We can find those points by expressing the absolute value function • f(x) = a |x - h| + k as, • f(x) = a (x - h) + k, if (x - h) ≥ 0 and • = – a (x - h) + k, if (x - h) < 0 ONE-TO-ONE FUNCTION DEFINITION OF ONE-TO-ONE • The same y-value is never paired with two different x-values THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!!
