What is a Robot?
• is a type of automated machine that can execute
specific tasks with little or no human intervention
and with speed and precision.
• the term "robot" was first used in a play
published by the Czech Karel Čapek in 1920.
R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots) was a satire,
robots were manufactured biological beings that
performed all unpleasant manual labor.
When to do Robotics?
•Center on
Contest
•National
Robotics
Competition
•WORLD ROBOT
GAMES
•Other
International
Robot Contests
Why is it important to integrate robotics in the
Philippine education system, and what roles do
teachers, students, and schools play in this
integration?
What 21st-century skills do we
develop by teaching robotics to
our learners, and why are these
skills important?
• Build habits of “Thinking”
• Build habits of
“Engineering Process”
• Build habits of “Scientific
Process”
• Build habits of doing
things!
Connecting to Math &
Science

• Measure the distance

• Measure the angle
• Write a program
• Use an inclined plane, add
a load
• Be precise
Connecting to Science &
Electronics •Use sensors (Calibrating)
•Measure the surrounding
•Respond as a switch
•Log data across time
•Incremental learning on
programming
•Control devices
(Environment, Car, house,
etc)
•Workshop skills in
electricity
Connecting to Physics and
Mechanics
• Improve on the movement
•Movement in a different
context
• Redesign, rebuild the base
• Focus on mechanical
problems
• Introduce mechanical
technology
Doing Real-Life Problems

•Research the problem

•Research known and
possible solutions
•Design a new solution and
method of testing
• Build
• Test
•Share with others
