EL PASADO SIMPLE
El pasado simple se usa para describir acciones que han
sucedido en el pasado.
Example:
He went to the library yesterday.

 El pasado del verbo “ser” o “estar” se construye


reemplazando is, am por la palabra was, y reemplazando
are por la palabra were.
 Las oraciones afirmativas (excepto con el
verbo to be) se construye combinando la
base del verbo por el pasado simple del
verbo en afirmativo.
Example.
I went to the park yesterday.

He studied hard last week.

They visited my aunt Friday.


 Para construir oraciones interrogativas y
negativas se necesita el verbo auxiliar did.
Example:
Negativas.
I didn’t go to the park yesterday.
He didn’t study hard last week.
They didn’t visit my aunt on Friday.
Interrogativas.
Did I go to the park yesterday?
Did he study hard last week?
Did they visit my aunt on Friday?
Past Tense Review
1 Verb to be: was / were

Affirmative I was here yesterday.


He was here yesterday
Negative He wasn’t here yesterday.
They wasn’t here yesterday.

Interrogative Were you here yesterday?


Was she here yesterday?
2. Past simple with regular and irregular verbs.

Affirmative I ate meat.


He played tennis.
Negative I didn’t ate meat.
He didn’t play tennis.
Interrogative Did I eat meat?
Did he play tennis?
Change the sentences into the
negative form. Write them down in
your notebook.
• Example: I went to the zoo.
I didn’t go to the zoo.
a. He played basketball. He didn’t play basketball.
b. I ate potatoes. I didn’t eat potatoes.
c. They went to the park.. They didn’t go to the park.
d. I was at home. I wasn’t at home
Change the sentences into the
interrogative form.Write them down in
your notebook.
• Example: They were watching TV.
Were they watching TV?
a. She was sleeping.
Was she sleepin?
b. They went to the shop.
Did they go to the shop?
?
c. I did my homework.
Did I do my homework?
d. She wrote a letter.
Did she write a letter?
Complete the blanks with was or were.
Write them down in your notebook.
a. He was at the mall yesterday.
b. They were at school yesterday morning.
c. Nanny and Paula were at the party yesteday evening.
d. I was at home last Saturday.
e. Elsa was at the office last morning.
f. Aldo and Pedro were at the stadium yesterday evening.
g. I was at the shop last Sunday.
