ECCLE
ECCLE
The People of God are gathered for Mass or the Lord's Supper to celebrate the Eucharistic Sacrifice or
Memorial of the Lord, with a Priest presiding and acting in the role of Christ. The Liturgy of the Word and
the Liturgy of the Eucharist are the two main components of the Mass.
Reading and Explaining the Word of God
God himself speaks to his people when the Sacred Scriptures are read aloud in church,
and Christ, who is present in his word, proclaims the Gospel.
The Prayers and Other Parts Pertaining to the Priest
-He introduce each of the following: the Liturgy of the Word (after the initial Greeting and before the
Penitential Act), the Eucharistic Prayer, and the Mass of the day . He is also allowed to make concluding
comments about the entire sacred action before the Dismissal.
Other Formulas Occurring during the Celebration
-The dialogues between the priest and the assembled faithful and the acclamations bring about communion between the priest and the people
-Acclamations and answers to the priest's welcomes and prayers are examples of the amount of active engagement required of the during every form of Mass
-The Lord's Prayer, the Penitential Act, the Profession of Faith, and other elements in the entire assembly are helpful for expressing and encouraging the active involvement of the faithful.
The Importance of Singing
The Apostle Paul commands the gathered Christian faithful to sing Psalms, hymns, and
spiritual canticles as one in preparation of the Lord's coming (cf. Col 3:16).
Gestures and Bodily Posture
The Christian community should stand for the Alleluia Chant before the Gospel, the Gospel itself as it is read, the Profession of Faith, the
Universal Prayer, and from the call to prayer, Orate, fratres (Pray, brethren), before the Prayer over the Offerings until the conclusion of Mass.
On the other hand, the faithful should sit throughout the readings prior to the Gospel and the Responsorial Psalm, as well as during the homily
and the preparation of the gifts at the Offertory. If needed, they may also sit or kneel during the period of sacred silence following Communion.
Silence
Sacred Silence is to be observed as a component of the celebration. Silence should be kept in the church, chapel, vesting room, and surrounding places
even before the celebration itself. This will help everyone get in the best condition to conduct the sacred celebration in a respectful and proper manner.
