What Is Quality Management?
Quality management is the act of overseeing all activities and tasks
that must be accomplished to maintain a desired level of excellence.
This includes the determination of a quality policy, creating and
implementing quality planning and assurance, and quality control
and quality improvement. It is also referred to as
total quality management (TQM).
In general, quality management focuses on long-term goals through the
implementation of short-term initiatives.
Quality Management Concepts
Quality Management Concepts are not only focused
on the quality of the product or service of a
company but on the means used to achieve this
quality product or service.
The concept of a Quality Management System is
fundamental to achieving and maintaining high
standards of quality in various industries.

Dr W Edwards Deming
wrote about the philosophies behind Quality, Productivity and
competitive position. He formulated his 14 rules of QM which had
Key Quality Management Concepts such as:
•Break down barriers between functions.
•Management should understand their responsibilities and act as
leaders.
•Supervisors should take on supportive roles, ensuring that
manpower, machines and materials were put to effective and
optimal use.
•Continuous Improvement of the systems behind the production
or service
•That Education and self-improvement of staff played a key role
in the success of a company.
What is Quality Management System in
Manufacturing Industry?
Manufacturing businesses are facing numerous challenges driven by both internal
as well as external factors, which prevent them from having control over
operations. A good Quality Management System (QMS) helps them address
those challenges, and gain better control of every manufacturing process. This
blog helps you understand how.
A manufacturing industry quality management software predominantly involves
the development, and application of standard operating procedures (SOPs),
business policies, procedures, corrective processes, and functions to ensure that
the quality expectations of the customer are consistently and invariably met.
It ensures that the product, process, or system performs as per its planned
function, every single time.
In the Quality Standard, ISO9000 there are
eight principles of Quality Management

ISO 9001:2015, the international
standard specifying requirements for
quality management systems, is the
most prominent approach to quality
management systems. While some use
the term "QMS" to describe the ISO
9001 standard or the group of
documents detailing the QMS, it actually
refers to the entirety of the system. The
documents only serve to describe the
system.
Conclusion:
In essence, the Quality Management concept
is the compass guiding organizations toward
excellence. Its principles underscore the
significance of customer satisfaction,
continuous improvement, and a process-
driven approach. By embracing these
principles, businesses cultivate a culture of
reliability, adaptability, and innovation. The
commitment to quality isn't just a compliance
checkbox; it's a strategic imperative. As we
mark one year, let's acknowledge that the
enduring relevance of Quality Management
lies in its power to not only meet but exceed
customer expectations, ensuring
organizations stand resilient and competitive
in a dynamic marketplace.
