MENTAL ILLNESS

• Depression is a low mood that lasts for a long time, and affects your everyday life.
• Anxiety disorders is what we feel when we are worried, tense or afraid – particularly
about things that are about to happen, or which we think could happen in the future. It is a
natural human response when we perceive that we are under threat.
• Schizophrenia. You could be diagnosed with schizophrenia if you are experience some of
the following:
a lack of interest in things
Feeling disconnected from your feelings
Difficulty concentrating
Wanting to avoid people/ delusions/ hallucinations/ disorganized thinking and speech
MENTAL ILLNESS

• Eating Disorders. If you have an eating problem you might


• Restrict the amount of food you eat
• Eat more than you need or feel out of control when you eat
• Eat a lot in secret
• Feel very anxious about eating or digesting food
• Do things to get rid of what you eat
• Eats a lot of food in response to difficult emotions (when you don’t feel
physically hungry)

ANOREXIA

• Weight loss that occurs from not

- They themselves as fat as what
they are thinking but their true
physical view is very thin
EXTREME OVEREATING

• Is marked by eating, eating and eating then having feelings guilt and
shame
• It means that eating disorder requires treatment from:
• A doctor
• A therapist
• A dietitian
ADHD (ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY
DISORDER)

• Common
• Hard to focus and sit still
• Hard to finish things
• Thoughts around
ADHD

• Can lead to control thoughts and bodies by figuring out what helps
them focus
• Can help talking to a doctor or mental health professional
• Some do better in school if they can do their work in a quiet room
• Medicine can help too
• People with ADHD are just smart as other people.
• They can still do well in school and in life
PTSD (POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER)

• Kids with PTSD might have every bad dreams that seem real, or think
something bad is going to happen
• But kids who are diagnosed with PTSD can learn ways to handle their
fears and can live healthy and happy lives
SCHIZOPHRENIA

• Schizophrenia makes it hard to people to know what is real and what is


not real
• It can make the brain think it sees or hears things that are NOT really
there
• Usually, people do not get this illness until their late teens or early
adulthood.
• There are ways to make their lives better, like therapy and medication
OCD (OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER)

• Obsessions are recurrent thoughts or images that intrude on a person’s


awareness
• Compulsion are repetitive behaviors where a person feels a strong urge
to perform a ritual or activity
• An anxiety disorder in which person experiences recurrent obsessions
or compulsions that he/she feels cannot be controlled
• Centered on removing dirt or fear of contamination
• If the person will not do it, he/she becomes anxious
OCD (OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER)

• With professional consultation and therapeutic treatment necessary


together with support from family and friends, people with OCD can
live normal lives wanting to be friend and have friends just like any
human.
CONCLUSION

• People facing mental challenges are just like everybody;


• Who wants to be a friend and have friends with;
• Helping people with mental health challenges can get better and live
normal lives.
