BASIC TECHNIQUES OF IMAGE
MANIPULATION
• There are many available programs on the web for
instant image manipulation and other editing
techniques. At the heart of photography is the idea that
you are conveying a message to your viewers. Perhaps
you want to show the beauty of a waterfall or the drama
of an incredible sunrise. Or, you may hope to depict the
dark intensity of a jagged mountain peak. A photograph
with a clear message can be as effective as possible; its
composition, colors, subject matter, and lighting all add
to the impression that your are trying to convey. And,
more than any other element of composition, the
concept of simplicity helps you achieve this goal. In this
article, I will cover the ways in which simplicity plays a
role in successful photography, including how to
implement to improve your own photographs.

manipulation.
•Images to be uploaded on the web
must be of the standard resolution of
72 dpi (dots per inch) to maintain its
image file size of 30-50 KB.
•if the image is for printing, set the
maximum resolution to 300 dpi and set
its physical printing size in inches.

posting it online.
2. FLICKR – it is an image social networking site. You can save and
manage your photos for it offers a 1 TB storage capacity in your
account.
3. PHOTOBUCKET – it has almost similar features with Flickr as you
can upload and share your images over the internet through your
account.
4. SLICKPIC – it is an online image-hosting service that also allows
you to upload and store an unlimited number of photos online. You
can create as many albums, and it also offers professional editing of
images.
5. ZENFOLIO – it is an online image-hosting site that does not only
allow you to upload image but also lets you create an online image
website for your images.

Title: Cropping an Image Using The GIMP
MANIPULATION
Performance Objective: Given the correct procedures on how
to crop a picture, you should be able to demonstrate the
following procedures.
Equipment/ Tools / Materials: computer, laptop, GIMP, picture, picture tools
Steps/Procedure:
1.Select the Crop Tool from the toolbox.
2.Click and Drag the tool and select the part of the picture you want to crop.
3.After releasing, you’ll see that the selection is active. Drag the four boxes to
resize the region you cropped.
4.You can crop it by clicking enter on your keyboard.
