LAN Switch Resource Information (Cont.)
If the DPU LAN switches are connected to the bearer network, you must plan the routing data of DPU LAN
switches. The following table describes the planning of the routing data of DPU LAN switches.

Route

Routers are divided into different logical groups, and each
group is identified by Area ID. This minimizes the number of Allocated by

Dynamic The OSPF designated router (DR) priority is used to select the
route DR from the routers in the network. The router with high
OSPF DR priority is selected as the DR. All the routers in the network Allocated by OSPF DR-priority
priority send link status information to the DR only, and the DR the carrier 100

IP Addresses for the Data Plane
The rules for planning IP addresses for the data plane are as follows:
The number of IP addresses to be configured for the data plane is calculated as follows:
Number of IP addresses = Number of data DPU modules x 2
The subracks of both the FE and BE must be configured with the data DPU modules, which implement data plane

communication between the FE and the BE, and between the active BE and the redundancy BE.
The data DPU modules work in load-sharing mode.
Each data DPU module must be configured with two network ports, and each network port must be configured with

an IP address.
Each data DPU board is configured with two network ports, one of which belongs to data plane 1, and the other

belongs to data plane 2.

If the integrated deployment of the FE and BE is adopted and the data layer redundancy solution is not adopted, you
are advised to use the default IP addresses for the data plane.

Data Plane Default IP Address Function

Data plane 1 172.20.(128 + subrack number).(logical slot number x 8) Used for communication between data planes
Data plane 2 172.21.(128 + subrack number).(logical slot number x 8) Used for communication between data planes

Note:
 If the separated deployment of the FE and the BE is adopted or the data layer redundancy
solution is adopted, the IP addresses of the data planes are planned by the carrier.
The IP addresses of the data planes must be in different network segments. There is no special
requirement for the IP address class.
 If the integrated deployment of the FE and BE is adopted and the data layer redundancy solution
is not adopted, the configuration of Location gateway 1 and Location gateway 2 are not
required.
 If the separated deployment of the FE and BE is adopted or the data layer redundancy solution
is adopted, the configuration of Location gateway 1 and Location gateway 2 may be required.

Installing the OMU Client
After installing the OMU server, you must install the OMU client. You can query and configure the
OMU server only after the OMU client is installed.
To install the OMU client, use either of the following methods:
 Java Web Start (JWS), that is, installing the OMU client over the Web page.

The JWS enables the OMU client to be installed and upgraded remotely. To install the OMU
client for the first time, type http://Floating IP address of the OMU board/jws/ in the
address bar of the Microsoft Internet Explorer, open the Web page and click the installation
link.

After the BE or FE is added as an ME of the OMU server by running ADD ME in the MML
Command - CGP window, the JWS automatically adds the corresponding OMU client for the
BE or FE.

After the OMU client is installed, a shortcut icon is created on the Start menu. Whenever you
start the OMU client, the system automatically checks the configuration file of the JWS server
and determines whether to upgrade the OMU client based on the configuration file.
 Using the installation package, that is, installing the OMU client by using the installation
package.
The version of the OMU client must be consistent with the versions of the MEs on the OMU.
You must download the installation packages for the following clients and install them in
sequence:
• CGP OMU client
• USCDB OMU client
• UPCC OMU client
The three OMU clients are installed in the same way.

7.1 Basic Concepts
The basic data specifies the service logics that enable
the USCDB to provide services over the networks.
The following key parameters must be configured during
the basic data configuration:
• Location
• Module: module number, module type, location (rack
number, subrack number, and slot number) of
processes
• Address: IP address (IP addresses for the data plane),
gateway IP address, subnet mask, and network port
• Cluster
• Node

 Cluster
 Node
 IP Addresses for the Data Plane
 System HLR serial number (SYSHLRSN)

Location

Location uniquely identifies an ME in the USCDB.

The ME identified by Location can be an active FE, an active USCDB,

a redundancy FE, or a redundancy USCDB.

The ME ID of the USCDB the ranges from 1 to 512.

Different USCDBs must be configured with different location IDs.

Module number
The module refers to the same type of processes running on a board.

Each module number must be unique in one NE.

Configuration rule:

The process running on a board varies according to the application

type of the board.

Cluster

A cluster refers to a group of nodes that provide the same

service.
Generally, a cluster consists of one master node and one
slave node. When the master node is faulty, services are
switched over to the other node in the cluster. The failure of a
single node does not adversely affect service processing, and
the system reliability is improved.
The USCDB has two types of cluster: the DRU cluster and
DSU cluster.

Copyright © 2014 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page 70
Node
A node is a unit that can independently provide services. A node is identified
by a node ID, which is unique in a location.
Several nodes that manage the same subscriber data constitute a cluster.
Based on the node status, the nodes can be classified into two types:
 Master node: Each cluster has only one master node. The master node

implements functions such as adding, deleting, modifying, and querying

data.
 Slave node: Each cluster has only one slave nodes. The slave node can

provide only the data query service.

The nodes are in one-to-one relationship with modules. Modules must be
configured before the nodes are configured.
The USCDB has two types of node: the DRU node and DSU node.
The nodes on the two DRU boards or DSU boards constitute DRU clusters or
DSU clusters.

IP Addresses for the Data Plane

The USCDB is configured with a data DPU module that provides the
data plane IP addresses. The data DPU modules implement data
plane communication between the FE and the USCDB, and between
the active USCDB and the redundancy USCDB.

System HLR serial number (SYSHLRSN)

This parameter is configured only on the GU-HLR at present.

It is not configured for interconnection between the USCDB and the
external FEs over the LDAP interface.
Each USCDB is assigned a system HLRSN, which is used to uniquely
identify the local office. Run the SET SYSHLRSN command on the MML
Command - USCDB window to set a system HLRSN for the local office.

In this presentation, the system HLRSN refers to the SYSHLRSN

that is configured by running the SET SYSHLRSN command.

7.2 Configuration Process
The basic data configuration script is generated during pre-installation. The
script is stored on the OMU server. You need to import the script to the USCDB
before data configuration.

 You are advised to configure the basic data according to the basic data
configuration script during site deployment.
 The basic data configuration script MML_Part2_For_GTS.txt is stored

8.1 Basic Concepts
The USCDB provides two interfaces for interworking with the FE. The
process of configuring data for interconnection between the USCDB
and the FE is different for these two interfaces.

1. DS call interface (DCI): This interface is a Huawei internal interface

which is mainly used for interconnection between the USCDB and
Huawei FEs such as GU-HLR and IMS-HSS.

2. Light Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) interface: This interface is a

standard and open protocol interface which is mainly used for
interconnection between the USCDB and external FEs or some
Huawei FEs such as SAE-HSS.

8.4 Configuring Data for Interconnection Between
the PGW and the Provisioning System
Basic concepts:
The provisioning system allows carriers to manage the subscriber data stored in the
USCDB through the provisioning system.
Therefore, you must configure the data for the interconnection between the USCDB
and the provisioning system.
The USCDB is configured with a data DPU module that provides the
provisioning system plane IP addresses for the communication
between the USCDB and the provisioning system.
