Our Vision & Mission:

• Vision: Foster convenience and economic growth through scalable, reliable digital solutions.

• Mission: Bridge service gaps in cities like Hossana with a crowdsourced delivery platform.

• Aim to contribute to Ethiopia’s digital economy and transition this project into a sustainable
startup, supporting job creation and regional modernization.

3
Background of the system

Global Crowdsourced Delivery Platforms:

• Crowdsourced delivery services like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Glovo have transformed
traditional delivery, especially in urban and semi-urban areas.

• These platforms connect customers with nearby drivers for efficient, affordable delivery with
features like real-time tracking and secure payments.

• In Ethiopia, similar platforms like BeU Delivery, Zmall, Deliver Addis, and Tikus Delivery face
challenges like limited coverage , limited only to food delivery, high costs, limited
crowdsourcing for drivers , lack of reliable real-time tracking systems 4
Cont..

Our Goal:
• Introduce a structured crowdsourced delivery platform tailored to regional cities,
starting with Hossana, to enhance reliability, affordability, and customer trust.

• Aims to support local businesses, expand reach, and address the limitations of
existing delivery services in Ethiopia.

5
Statement of Problem

Delivery Challenges in Regional Cities:

• Regional cities like Hossana lack organized, digital delivery platforms.

• Residents rely on informal arrangements with independent motorbike drivers,

limiting accessibility, convenience, and timely service.

6
Cont..

Current Delivery System Limitations:

• Geographical Coverage

• High Delivery Costs

• Lack of Crowdsourcing

• Inadequate Real-Time Tracking

• Limited-Service Offerings
7
Cont..

Our Proposed Solution:

• Expansion of Geographical Coverage

• Diversified Offerings including groceries, electronics, and other.

• Personalized Recommendations

• Charity Order Option

• Driver Rating System

Benefits:
• Empowering Residents: Increased access to reliable, affordable delivery services.

• Supporting Local Businesses: Help businesses expand their customer reach and grow
by providing dependable infrastructure.

• Contributing to Economic Growth: The system boosts local economies by creating

job opportunities and enhancing service offerings in Hossana and other regional cities.
9
Team Composition

Roles: • UX/UI Designer

• Project Manager • System Architect

• Requirements Engineer • Database Administrator

• Backend Developer • QA Engineer

• Frontend Developer

10
Objectives of the Project

General Objective:
• To develop a web-based crowdsourced delivery platform that connects customers
with local service providers, facilitating accessible, affordable, and efficient delivery
of food and goods.

Specific Objective:
• To gather detailed requirements from local businesses and potential customers.
11
Cont..

• To analyze the gathered requirements, for designing a robust and secure system

• To design system architecture, using UML diagrams

• To develop responsive front-end interface

• To implement back-end system using Node.js, Express.js, and other technologies

12
Cont..

• To conduct testing through unit, integration

• To deploy the system for initial use

• To enable real-time delivery tracking

• To incorporate a secure and reliable payment gateway

13
Feasibility Study

Technical Feasibility:
• Technology Stack: The project will utilize modern and reliable technologies,

• Infrastructure Requirements: The platform will be hosted on scalable cloud services

• Device Compatibility: The system will be designed to work efficiently on commonly used
smartphones and desktops, including both Android and iOS platforms

14
Cont..
Operational Feasibility:
• Workforce Availability: There is a sufficient number of potential drivers in such cities like
Hossana who are familiar with mobile phones, computer desktop and digital platforms.

• User Adoption: Observation that are taken from local residents and businesses indicate a high
demand for an affordable and reliable delivery service.

• Local Infrastructure: Our country cities like Hossana currently have an informal delivery
system, with informal drivers using motorbikes.
15
Cont..
Economic Feasibility:
• Initial Investment: costs have been estimated and we will find an initial investor for the third-
party API integration cost.

• Revenue Model: The service will generate revenue through a transaction fee charged to users
per delivery.

• Sustainability and Growth: The platform will be designed to scale as internet access improves.

• Economic Impact: The system will create job opportunities for local drivers and support the
growth of local businesses . 16
Scope and Limitation
Scope: • Driver Matching System
• User Registration and Profiles • Rating and Review System
• Product Registration • Delivery Notifications
• Order Placement and Tracking • Eco-Friendly Delivery Options
• Charity Orders • Personalized Recommendation System
• Payment Integration • SEO optimization
17
Cont..

Limitation:
• Limited Driver Availability

• Dependence on Smart gadgets and Internet Access

• Competition with Informal Delivery Services

• Financial Constraints

18
Significance of the Project

 This project is a transformative initiative for regional cities like Hossana, Ethiopia, where
residents currently rely on an informal, phone call-based delivery system and like:

• Bridging Local Businesses and Residents

• Promoting Local Businesses and Facilitating Economic Growth

• Creating Employment Opportunities

• Promoting Digital Transformation in Ethiopia

• Supporting Digital Literacy and Skill Development: 19

Methodology

Methodology Overview.
• We have chosen the Waterfall methodology as the primary approach for this project because
it aligns well with our project's scope and structure.

• The documentation of the requirements and system design complete before moving on to the
implementation phase.

• The project is so big and wide so this methodology is suitable for this project.

20
Cont..

• We recognize that feedback and suggestions from our instructor or unforeseen

factors may necessitate revisiting and refining the requirement documentation or
system design.

• In such cases, we will incorporate iterative elements to address these corrections

and ensure the system meets expectations.

21
Development tools

Hardware tools:
• Personal Computers

• Web-server

Software tools:
• React

22
Cont..

• Bootstrap or Tailwind CSS • Postman

• Google map API • Figma

• Socket.io • Git and Git-hub

• Node.js with Express • Visual Paradigm

• MongoDB (NoSQL) or PostgreSQL • Selenium

(SQL)
23
Testing Procedure

Unit Testing:
• It will be performed to validate individual components of the system.

• It will be written for each module to ensure that it works as expected in isolation.

24
Cont..

Integration Testing:
• It will focus on ensuring that all components of the system work together efficiently.

• Involve testing the interactions between the back-end (e.g., API calls), the front-
end (user interface), and the database.

• Goal is to verify that the entire system functions correctly when all parts are
integrated.
25
Task and Schedule
Time Plan:
• The project will be completed over a period of 6 months.
Phase Duration
