UNCOVERING THE ROOTS:EXPLORING

THE CAUSES OF STUDENT DROPOUT RATES

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The issue of student dropout rates has long been a pressing concern in
educational systems worldwide. While various factors contribute to this
complex phenomenon, understanding its roots is crucial for developing
effective interventions and promoting educational equity. This study aims to
delve into the multifaceted causes of student dropout rates, exploring both
individual and systemic factors that influence students' decisions to leave
school prematurely.
INTRODUCTION

Student dropouts have been a significant worry for various

individuals, particularly administrators and educators. This
phenomenon, not only affects the lives of the students but also
the school, and the societies. However, we can't blame students
if they have the choice of dropout in school, because each
student has their own reasons why they do this, whether it is
really their choice or not. They have personal problems that
could also be the cause of their decision to drop out in school.
Above all, this is also a concerning issue which needs to be
addressed and focused on.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

MAJOR This research aims to explore and know the reasons

PROBLEM:
behind the dropout rates of the students.

SPECIFIC PROBLEM: Specifically, it seeks to answer the following

questions:

• What are the termlessly causes of students dropout?

• What are the possible effects of the students dropout, in the school and
societies?
• What are the connections of personal problems from the dropout rates?
• What kind of discipline we can provide to minimize the the choice of
dropout?
RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS

There is a relationship between the factors of academic

performance, social relation and school environment that
contribute to the high rate of student dropout in educational
institutions.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The significance of the study is to uncover the reasons why students
drop out of school, which helps us find ways to support them and decrease the
dropout rates in every school. By identifying the obstacles students face, we can
create better programs or develop strategies to assist them, creating a more
supportive educational environment for all students. The result of the study will
be of great benefit to the following:
STUDENTS: Students get support to overcome challenges and do better in
school, which makes them happier and more successful

TEACHERS: Teachers can change how they teach and help students who are
struggling, so everyone does better in school.
POLICYMAKER: They can use this information to make better
rules and plans to help students stay in school and do well.

COMMUNITIES: When more students stay in school, it helps the

whole community grow and become a better place to live.

FUTURE RESEARCHERS: The result of this research maybe the

basis for further studies and can be used as related
literature.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

dropout rates by exploring both individual and systemic factors that
influence students' decisions to leave school prematurely.
