Technical Part
Technical part About the certificate:
This certification is designed to:
• Provide a professional training to banking experts catering to
the financial needs of small and medium enterprises.
Target Audience:
• Train client relationship officers.
• Managers .
• Newly hired staff in Banks’ SME Departments/Units.
Certificate Objectives:
By the end of the certificate, you will be able to:
• Understand the main principles of accounting.
• Understand the SME finance sector in Egypt.
• Understand the breadth and width of financial products that can be
proposed to SMEs.
• Explain How to conduct financial and non-financial assessments of
SMEs, analyze risks, and employ strategies to mitigate them.
Certificate Objectives:
• Understand the principles of financial statements analysis prepare
balance sheets, income statements and cash flow projections, and be
fully capable to analyze them, including with the use of a range of
financial ratios.
• Understand how to analyze cash flow statement.
• Understand the SME facility structure and it’s main components.
• Understand the Loan Portfolio Management & Monitoring and Non-
Performing Loans.
Certificate Objectives:
• Create an appropriate credit report to the credit committee, which
include facilities structure and recommendation.
• Justify the essential principles of trade finance.
• Understand and be aware of the legal aspects of credit and credit
facilities.

Module 0: Accountancy 24 hours
Exam Accountancy Exam 45 min
Module 1: Macro context of SME Lending 16 hours
Module 2: Responding to SME Customer Needs 20 hours
Module 3: SME Client Assessment 20 hours
Exam Exam Modules (1,2&3) 30 min
SME Credit Analysis: Understanding Financial Statements
Module 4: 35 hours
Post Exams:
• Participants will sit for 4 exams during the certificate, all exams are
conducted at EBI premises.
• Participant must achieve 60% average cut-off score in the Post Exams.
Assessment Strategy
Final desk (Real Case Studies):
• Each participant will be assigned to analyze a real case study.
• A desk taker will discuss participant’s findings and will be graded based
on the participant’s analytical and presentation skills. (Cut off Score 70%).
In order to receive a certificate, you must pass both the final desk and
final exam (Frankfurt Exam) cut-off score.
Execution Part
EBI Attendance policy:
• You will not be entitled for a certificate, and will not be meeting
completion requirements, in case of:
• Failure to attend a minimum of 90% of the training sessions
• Participants who arrive 30 minutes late after the start of the session - in two
sessions - will be considered absent in one session unless the participant is
granted an approved excuse from the nominating client.

two sessions - will be considered absent in one session unless the participant is

In-Class Training Protocol
According to EBI regulations – you will not be entitled to a certificate, and will
not be meeting completion requirements, in case of:
a) Failure to attend a minimum of 90% of the training sessions – please check with your
Training Coordinator to determine the minimum number of sessions required.
b) Failure to sit for the post-program exams or failure to pass the end-of-program exam
c) Failure to pass the final project discussion at the end of the certificate.
