The value of a laptop increased by 15%. The cost of a shirt is increased by 30%.
It costs £1035. It costs €25.
What did it cost before the sale? What did it cost before the sale?

Step 1: This is a percentage increase of 15%

100%+15%=115%
Step2: Write down the percentage and put it equal to
the amount you have been given.

115% = £1025
Step 3:This is a calculator question, so use the method
of finding 1%.

115%=1035
÷115 ÷115
1% =9
×100 ×100

100% = £900
