* The major Component of the building are Office ,Bank,Cafe and living
area.
* Overall Internship of Experience

In the company there were two working sections

A. Site Works
B. Office Works
* A. Formwork
Site Works

Is mold used to form concrete into structural shapes.

The formwork should have adequate strength,
practically water proof, rigid, the surface should be
smooth to carry out all applied load, including the
pressure of fresh concrete, vibration load, weight of
workers and equipment, without loss of shape
structure.
Removal time of formwork according to the our site.
for vertical formwork removal time is 16 hours
for staircase, slab removal time is 21 days.
In our site the wooden formwork was used.
* Scaffolding
* Scaffolding is a temporary Crest
structure that is typically made
from metal poles and wood
planks and used to support
construction workers, cleaners,
and others who need to work at
height.
* It should be sufficient strength
to support the weight and
stress of dead load and living
load such as during casting, of
concrete and the workers.
* Material used as for scaffolding
is may be steel, wood, bamboo
and etc. in our site we used
mainly the steel metal type of
scaffolding. We use in our site
the H-frame type of scaffolding.

H-Frame
* Column

is a structural part of a building which is a vertical

structure that’s carries and transfer load.
Construction of column classified as four stages;
 Column layout
Stanga
 Column Reinforcement Work
 Column Formwork
 Casting Concrete in column
Supervision of column
• Horizontal & Vertical alignment
• Quality of formwork
• Reinforcement Number, Diameter
• Availability of man power and machineries.
• Check Mix ratio & take sample test.
• Check the time for removal of formwork.
Gindila
• Proper curing (7days)
* Beam
Is horizontal structure which transfer load to the column.

Procedure of construction Supervision of Beam

of Beam • Check proper lapping of bar

• Check Spacing & Number of Stirrup
• Construction of scaffolding • Check the availability of the enough
• Construction of bottom & manpower and machineries

Side formwork • Check the mix ratio and take the

* Staircase
A staircases a consists of a number of steps arranged in a series, with
landing at appropriate location, for the purpose of giving access to
different floors of a building. The staircase was on our site was open
newel half turn stair.
Component of the staircases
• Tread: is a horizontal member of tread.
• Riser: is a vertical portion of a stair.
• Going: is a horizontal distance b/n the front edges of two consecutive
steps.
• Soffit: it is under side of the stair.
• Landing: is a platform b/n two flights.
• Flight: a continuous set of steps b/n floor or landing. Top

* Shear wall
Are vertical elements of the horizontal force resisting system. Shear
wall is used for structural which are exposed to heavy load and some
environmental load like seismic load and wind load.
In our site shear wall uses for this purpose
• To support lift houses.
• To resist lateral load
• Act as partition wall
• Prevent excessive side-way.
In shear wall construction.
we happened to observe the following major works.
 Reinforcement work
 Formwork preparation
 Concrete casting
* Concrete
Is a composite material made from a mixture of water, cement, and
aggregates that hardens into a strong, solid substance:
Vibration of Concrete
In this process, efforts are only directed to reduce the voids in the
compacted concrete. In our site we vibrate by vibration machine
Curing.
is the process of maintaining the moisture and temperature of
concrete to allow it to strengthen and reach its maximum durability.
The purpose of curing
To reduce the heat loss of concrete that is freshly placed to the
atmosphere and reduce the temperature gradient across the cross-
section of the concrete.
* Test on site
Compressive Strength Test:- this kind of test is used for
the exact measuring the compressive strength of concrete our
construction used for measurement of Cubic test
Here cubic mold is prepared in size of 15*15*15cm steel mold.
After preparing the concrete in the mold it stays in the mold for
24hours and then in to the water.
At 7 days: two-third of final strength of concrete.
At 28 days: total final strength of concrete
Cubic Test

Spacer/Concrete Cover
These are small blocks made of sand cement and small aggregate which are
used to provide enough space between reinforcement bar and concrete to
protect bar from rust.
Spacers are used to maintain uniform thickness of clear cover.
They are pre-casted in the site in required dimension.

Reinforcement Bar
Reinforcement work is the preparation and placement of
reinforcement steel bars for different structures like
beam, column, slab, shear wall, stair case and etc. this
reinforcement bar are mainly used as main
reinforcement and as stirrup or at site called as
“Staffa”.
Reinforcement Bar
Stirrup: the stirrup having a site name called “Staffa”. In our site we use the stirrup used Ø8,for
beam, column, shear wall and etc.
Function of stirrups
• To resist shear force
• To resist the vibration, Earthquake force.
• Use for punching shear
• To tie longitudinal bars in position.
Bending wire; is used for the purpose of tying application in the field of construction. Binding wire
is made of mild steel. We use binding wire in our site1.5mm for tying rebar.

* Office Works
Reading and interpreting Drawing
We looked into and understand the architectural,
structural, electrical and sanitary drawings a bit more in
detail. It helped us improve our skills in understanding
the drawing and visualizing it. It also helped us to
understand what will be constructed at the site.
Take off sheet
The taking off process is in which each material’s quantity
would be determined starting from the excavation work up to
the final finishing work. These quantities are calculated in
specially prepared tabular format, as to aid accurate
preparation and enable checking/rechecking or adjusting of
amounts and correcting errors if any by using MS Excel.
* Bar Schedule

Bar schedule is used to know the amount of

rebar utilized on the site. The total bars will be
multiplied by the unit weight to give the total
weight of the bar.
Bar schedule is presented in tabular form for
easily visual reference, the table summarizes
the entire needed particular bars (diameter,
shape of bending, length of each bond and
straight portion, total length each bar and
number of each bar).
* Bill of Quantity
This sheet contains the specification of all works to be
done with their unit rate. At the office, we mostly read
the BOQ to understand how the work was done which
gave us a good understanding of how specifications
should be written. We have also asked about some
works which were unclear and understood how they
were done. After that, we went to the site to cross-
check what we had learnt and this helped us a lot. The
sample BOQ used at the office is shown in the table
below.
* Payment Certificate
Is certificate given by the client to the
contractor that the contractor has
already done the task that was covered
with the found given by the contactor
and this leads to the next stage of
construction and extra payment is
given to the contactor to perform the
activities of the project.

practicing and seeing real life and situations on the construction
industries.
* Recommendation
Recommendation to the company
we want to recommend some points for the company.
 Health and safety environment is not entirely guaranteed on site so
we recommend that the company should provide the safety
materials.
 There is the shortage of manpower so should addition the
manpower.
 Minor quality defects have been shown during monolithic
concrete casting, so very care attention in the supervision.
 Provide the delivery of construction material
Recommendation to the MWU
We also genuinely list some actions that we need our institute to work
on;
 The payment should be money-value considering or inflation
adjusted.
