RELATION BETWEEN THE MEMORY
ARRAY AND THE EXTERNAL REGISTERS
IN AN ASSOCIATIVE MEMORY WHAT IS MEANT BY ASSOCIATIVE MEMORY ??
Generally CPU execute the instruction
using the address . But the CPU execute the instruction based on the content available in memory is called As associative memory . This is also known as the content addresible memory (CAM) . Click icon to add picture BLOCK DIAGRAM Block diagram consist of three registers : 1) 1) Argument register 2) 2) Key register 3) 3)Match register • 1)Argument Register : • It contains the content of the register . • It is denoted by ‘A’.
• 2)Key Register : • It is used for performing the comparision .
• 3)The result of the comparision is saved into the match register .
• The result is stored in the form of the 0 or 1 only . • If the result is contain 1 then it is set . • If the result is contain 0 then it is reset . EXAMPLE
This example show the relation
between the memory array and the register in an associative memory : Argument register conatain n no of blocks that bit starting with 1 and ending with n . Cell : Cell is denoted by c . It contain two subscripts : I : Represent the word no . 1) 2 : Represent the bit position .
