Effective communication strengthen the connection between
the company and its stakeholders.(All individuals or groups who
have an interest in the performance of a business.)
 Provide practical information-useful information
 Give facts ( clear, convincing, accurate and ethical) rather
vague impressions.
 Present information in a concise, efficient manner. It shows
respect for people's time. Increase chances of positive response.
 Clarify expectations and responsibilities. Craft message to
generate specific response.
 Offer compelling persuasive arguments and recommendations.
Shows how they will benefit from responding to your message.

The Communication Process
1. The Sender has an idea.
2. The Sender encodes the idea as a message.( expressing it in
words or images- Putting the idea into a message.
3. The Sender produces the message in a transmittable medium.
( the form the message takes- a phone call, a sideshow
presentation)
4. The Sender transmits the message through a channel.( the
system used to deliver the message- a phone, computer)
5. The audience receives the message.
6. The audience decodes the message.( extract the idea from the
message)
7. The audience responds to the message.
8. The audience provides feedback to sender.

A communication barrier is anything that prevents us from


receiving and understanding the messages i.e.
disturbances that often stand between the sender and the
receiver. A number of barriers can block or distort messages
before they reach the intended audience such as :
Noise and distractions. can be both physical and emotional
and are especially common due to multitasking.
Competing messages make it difficult to gain and keep your
audience’s attention due to information overload which make it
difficult to distinguish between useful and useless information.
Filters. Any human or technology intervention between the
sender and receiver.
Channel breakdowns occur when the channel you select fails
to deliver your message .

Minimizing Distractions
Minimizing distractions to the communication
environment is everybody’s responsibility.
 Be aware of any barriers that could
prevent your message from reaching.
 Use common sense. Turn off your mobile
before a meeting.
 Avoid unnecessary messages.
 Prioritize messages
 Anticipate emotional reactions.

 Ethics are the accepted principles of conduct
that govern behavior within a society .

 Includes relevant information
 Is true in every sense
 Not deceptive in any way

Communication
 Plagiarism :presenting someone else's words or others creative
product as your own .
 Omitting essential information. Information is essential if your
audience needs it to make a decision.
 Selective misquoting. Distorting or hiding the true intent of
someone else's words.
 Misrepresenting numbers . Statistics and other data can be
unethically manipulated by increasing or decreasing numbers
exaggerating altering statistics or omitting numeric data.
 Distorting visuals: images can be manipulated in unethical ways
such as making a product seem bigger or smaller than it really is.
 Failing to respect privacy or information security needs .
Failing to protect privacy, or information of others.
