ORIENTATION ON THE

RESEARCH
PROPOSAL DEFENSE
FORMATTING THE
• Use
MANUSCRIPT
letter size paper (8 ½ x 11 inches).
• Use Arial font, size 11 or Times New Roman, size 12.
• Themanuscript should be set in double space. Two double spaces should
be observed between sections of the paper.
• Observe proper margin: 1 ½ inches for the left margin, 1 inch for the right,
top and bottom.
• Observe proper pagination: for the preliminary pages, the page numbers
should be small Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, and so on) and placed at the
center bottom while for the body of the manuscript -from Chapter 1 to
Appendices, the page number should be Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3, and so
on) and placed at the upper right corner of the paper. However, the page
number should not appear in the title page and at the start of each
chapter. A technique that works is using a shape then format it, no line
then fill with white color.
