Q1: What is the business problem to be solved, and why is it

important?
Business Problem
• Allocation of employees (talent) to client projects to avoid misalignments between
talent and clients
• Talent allocation at Infosys requires significant time and resources, more than one
million hours of effort per year
• Manually determine open positions for client projects, evaluate the skills and
experience, identify available and qualified employees and assign best-matched
employees to the project
• Non-availability of real-time visibility of available employees for new projects and
reliability of data to be improved
• Non-updation of new skills in employee profiles as same are manually updated by
Managers
• Significant rejection rates on the recommendation of “Talent Task Force” department
from hiring Managers and employees resulted in de-duplication of work
• Inaccurate data on open positions (obsolete, duplicates and incomplete skill

requirements)
Q2: Is this a problem that AI can solve?
Solution with AI
• AI will help employees to be free from daily, mundane tasks that technology
could help more efficiently
• Compilation of client requirements and suggesting suitable talent matches based
on multiple variables updated in the system
• Real-time tracking of vacant profiles, upcoming & running projects, employee
skills and updation
• Integrate rich sources of information into the recommendation engine without
causing bias and transparency in selection process
• AI can help in finding emerging employees as managers can be biased to allocate
the same assignment to known outstanding performers
• Equal opportunity to all employees without any gender/performance bias
depending on multiple selection criteria based on project requirement
• Employee selection will be based on suitability in variables and not on the hiring
manager’s politics to bring hygiene in the selection process
