Constant function

A constant function
is a linear
function whose
general format is
y = mx + k,
where m and k
are constants.

F(X)=2
Linear function

A linear function is a function

whose graph is a line.
Thus, it is of the form f(x)
= ax + b where ‘a’ and ‘b’
are real numbers

F(X)=X
Quadratic
function

Quadratic function is a
polynomial function
with one or more
variables in which the
highest exponent of the
variable is two.

F(X)=x2
Cubic
function
A cubic function is a polynomial
function of degree 3 and is of
the form f(x) = ax3 + bx2 +
cx + d, where a, b, c, and d
are real numbers and a ≠ 0.
The basic cubic function
(which is also known as the
parent cube function) is f(x) =
x3
Absolute value
function

An absolute value function is

a function in algebra
where the variable is
inside the absolute value
bars.

F(X)=|X|
Square root function
The square root function is
basically of the form f(x)
= √x. i.e., the parent
square root function is
f(x) = √x. This is the
inverse of the square
function g(x) = x2 as the
square and square root
are the inverse
operations of each other.
Cube root function

The cube root function is the

inverse of the cubic
function. We know that the
parent cubic function is of
the form f(x) = x3 and this
function is increasing, one-
one, and onto. Hence, it is
a bijection. Thus, its
inverse function, which is
cube root function, is of the
form f(x) = ∛x
Reciprocal function

Reciprocal function is a
function that can be
inverted. For the reciprocal
of a function, we alter the
numerator with the
denominator of the
function. The function of
the form. The function of
the form f(x) = 1/x
Reciprocal squared
function

Reciprocal function is a function that

can be inverted. For the
reciprocal of a function, we alter
the numerator with the
denominator of the function. The
function of the form. The function
of the form f(x) = 1/X power of 2
