Aerodrome Terminal Facilities
An airport terminal is a building at an airport where
passengers transfer between ground transportation and
the facilities that allow them to board and disembark
from an aircraft.

The buildings that provide access to the airplanes

(via gates) are typically called concourses. However,
the terms "terminal" and "concourse" are sometimes
used interchangeably, depending on the configuration of
the airport.

Aerodrome Terminal Facilities

Passengers on commercial flights access airside areas through terminals, where they can
purchase tickets, clear security, check or claim luggage and board aircraft through
gates.

The waiting areas which provide passenger access to aircraft are typically called
concourses, although this term is often used interchangeably with terminal.
Passenger Terminal Function
Ticket Purchase
Passengers purchase tickets and check flight information.

Security Clearance
Passengers undergo security checks to ensure safety.

Luggage Handling

Passengers check or claim luggage, ensuring smooth travel.

Gate Access
Passengers board aircraft through designated gates.

passengers must check-in before
boarding. You can check-in online or in
person at the airport.

Restricted Items
Liquids, laptops, and aerosols are typically
removed from carry-on bags and placed in a
tray for screening.
Aerodrome Terminal Facilities- Customs and Immigration

Airports with international flights have customs and

immigration facilities.

However, as some countries have agreements that allow

travel between them without customs and immigrations,
such facilities are not a definitive need for an international
airport.
Aerodrome Terminal Facilities:
Customs and Immigration

Passport Control
Passengers arriving from international flights must clear
customs and immigration to enter the destination
country.

Baggage Inspection
Customs officers may inspect baggage for prohibited or
restricted items, such as illegal drugs or weapons.

International Agreements
Some countries have agreements allowing travel
between them without customs and immigration,
simplifying the process for passengers.
Aerodrome Terminal Facilities- boarding gate

An airport boarding gate is a designated area in an

airport terminal that allows passengers to board a
flight.

Facilities: Boarding Gate
Boarding Announcement
Passengers are notified of their boarding gate and
time through airport announcements and digital
displays.
