PRESENTATION ON WIRELESS ETHERNET PROTOCOLS

Presented by

Nayana G
Introduction to Wireless Ethernet Protocols
• Wireless Ethernet protocols enable devices to connect to networks without physical cables.

• They are essential for facilitating communication in various environments, including homes
and businesses.

• Understanding these protocols is critical for optimizing network performance and security.
IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi)
• IEEE 802.11, commonly known as Wi-Fi, is the most widely used wireless networking
protocol.

• It operates in various frequency bands, primarily 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, to provide flexibility
and speed.

• Different variants, such as 802.11ac and 802.11ax, offer enhancements in speed, range, and
capacity.
Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1)
• Bluetooth is a short-range wireless protocol designed for low-power devices.

• It is commonly used for connecting peripherals like headphones, keyboards, and mice to
computers and smartphones.

• Bluetooth operates in the 2.4 GHz range and utilizes frequency hopping to minimize
interference.
Zigbee
• Zigbee is a wireless protocol tailored for low-power, low-data rate applications, primarily in
IoT devices.

• It operates on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard and is ideal for smart home systems and industrial
automation.

• Zigbee supports mesh networking, allowing devices to communicate across extended

distances through multiple hops.
Z-Wave
• Z-Wave is another low-power wireless protocol focused on home automation and smart
devices.

• It operates in the sub-1 GHz frequency range, which helps reduce interference from Wi-Fi and
other devices.

• Z-Wave networks can support up to 232 devices, making it suitable for comprehensive smart
home setups.
DOMAIN NAME SERVICE(DNS

• The Domain Name System is a hierarchical and distributed name service that provides a
naming system for computers, services, and other resources on the Internet or other
Internet Protocol networks.
• It associates various information with domain names assigned to each of the associated
entities
CONCLUSION
Wireless technology will be very important in the near future where the need for wires
connecting individual devices seems to be coming to an end.

Key takeaways. Wireless networks provide a convenient wireless connection without

cables using radio waves to transmit data between devices. Key setup components
include routers, access points for extending coverage, and adapters to connect devices.

A wireless network connects computers without using network cables. Computers use
radio communications to send data between each other. You can communicate directly
with other wireless computers, or connect to an existing network through a wireless AP
