The Constitution of India

• A Constitution is a set of rules and laws

according to which a country is
governed.

• It defies the form of government.

• The Constitution declares India into a

sovereign, socialist, secular,
democratic, republic.
• It is the supreme law of India.

• It divides the powers of the

government into 3 branches:
• Legislature
• Executive
• Judiciary

• It defies the Fundamental Rights and

Duties of the citizens of India.
How Fundamental Duties complement Fundamental Rights

• Every citizen of India has

Fundamental rights to enjoy.

• While you enjoy your rights, you

must follow your Fundamental
Duties too, so that:
• You can fulfil your responsibility
towards your nation.
• You do not take away anyone
else’s Fundamental Rights.
• Hence, if you follow your
Fundamental Duties, everyone
including you gets to enjoy their
Fundamental Rights.

• This is why Fundamental Duties

complement Fundamental Rights
and they both work in harmony
together.
Conclusion

• Fundamental Rights and

Duties are integral
components of our
Constitutional framework.

• They empower individuals and

instil a sense of responsibility
towards their nation.

• Therefore, we conclude that

Fundamental Duties
complement Fundamental
Rights.
