Assignment : Multiplication
& Repeated Addition
by Kayla Correa
Students Will be Able to:
- Understand and recall (DoK 1) properties of multiplication
- Apply multiplication properties to equations within 100
- Recognize math symbols in equations
*Now that students are familiar with math symbols, I will explain how
addition can be associated to multiplication tables by introducing an array
and repeated addition.
Lesson 1: Peer Activity
Materials: math links cube set
Task: In this activity, student will be randomly assigned to a partner and both be given some
math links cubes. Together they will use the cubes to create an array that displays a repeated
addition problem. Students will be given 15 minutes to complete task and then asked to present
their array to the class. This activity will prepare students for multiplication by breaking it down
more in depth.
Example: This array shows 3+3+3=9. When we use the property of multiplication this can be
written as 3x3=9
This activity helps students with learning disabilities visually see how addition can be associated
with multiplication through the use of math links cube set. Additionally, peer work allows SWD to
practice communication skills with their peers.
Lesson 2: Domino

a multiplication problem out of the
number of dots on the domino.
Students will number a paper 1- 12
and write down their domino
multiplication problem. Example 2
This domino displays the
multiplication problem 7x5=35.
Assessment
* Note: each question is worth 3 points so, total number of points that can be earned is 45 points
