LESSON 4:
Steve and Alex Friendship
Warm - up

Hello (student’s name), how are you doing today?

Let’s revise what we learned in the previous session by answering some
questions!
What is a bug?
Answer: Bug is an error found in a program.

What is debugging?
Answer: The process of finding a bug and fixing it is called debugging.

In the last session, on which lab did we create the project?

We created the Customized Photo frame project on Artist Lab
Problem Statement
Once upon a time, in a small town called Codeville, two best friends named
Steve and Alex lived next door to each other. They loved spending time
together and shared a passion for solving puzzles and playing games.

One sunny day, their teacher, Miss Ada, announced an exciting project that
would involve both coding and friendship. She called it "The Friendship Code
Adventure." The project required each student to team up with a partner and
use code.org to create a fun game that showcased the essence of friendship.
Solution

Steve and Alex were thrilled about this project and decided to be partners. They
brainstormed ideas for their game, and finally, they came up with a fantastic
plan. They wanted to create a game where two friends work together and helping
each other in searching an apartment to live.
Event

Event is an action that causes something to happen.

I'm going to ask you some questions. I want you to raise your hand if you
know the answer. Ready?
How many thumbs do I have?

What is bigger, a bird or a horse?

So, when you lift your hand to answer, it's called an ‘event’. Then, when you
give me your answer, it's an action that happens when it's your turn;
therefore, an action is triggered by an event.
Event

Do you think of any event that give signals?

NOTE: Teacher may need to remind students that you're not

talking about an event like a ‘birthday party’ or a ‘field trip’
but an action in movement.

What about an alarm clock going off? What makes that

happen?

Turning off a clock is an event.

Event

What about pressing "Start" on a

microwave? What does that do?

Pressing the ‘start’ button of a

microwave is an event.

What about pressing the power

button on your TV remote?

Pressing the ‘power’ button on TV

remote is an event.
Event

In this lesson, you'll make your character do things

using events.

Imagine if you want your character to move only when

you touch the screen of your phone. You would have to
make a plan so your character only moves when you
touch the screen.

When you touch the screen, it becomes a signal for your

character to start moving. Right?

Instructions for Teacher

waddle will move either left, right, up,
or down.

Can you figure out the events and

actions in the given puzzle?

left’ arrow, ‘when down’ arrow, ‘when
up’ arrow and ‘when right arrow’.
