Speaking Part 1:
Introduction and Interview

● 4-5 minutes of general questions about


familiar topics
● Topics may include: home, family, work,
studies, interests
● Tip: Practice giving extended answers (2-3
sentences)
● Example question: "What do you like about
your hometown?"
Speaking Part 2: Individual Long Turn

● 3-4 minutes (including 1 minute preparation time)


● Speak on a given topic using a task card
● Tip: Use your preparation time to jot down key points
● Practice exercise: Describe a memorable journey you've taken
Speaking Part 3: Two-Way Discussion
● 4-5 minutes of more abstract questions
related to Part 2 topic
● Tip: Use linking words to structure your
responses (e.g., "However," "On the other
hand")
● Example follow-up: "How has travel

Speaking Strategy: Expand Your Vocabulary

● Learn a new word or phrase daily


● Use synonyms to avoid repetition

● Skim: Quick read for general idea (30
seconds per passage)
● Scan: Search for specific information
● Practice: Skim a news article in 1 minute,
then summarize the main point

Reading Tip: Time Management

● Allocate 20 minutes per passage


● Read questions before the passage to know what to look for
● If stuck, move on and come back later
● Practice: Set a timer for 20 minutes and complete a practice

● Time yourself: Aim to complete in 3 minutes
