• You fit better into the organization.
• You stand out in the crowd.

Basic grooming tips
• Face– Your face is the first point of contact when you meet someone. Just
keep your nostrils clean, no crust on your eyes, eyebrows trimmed, and
avoid unwanted facial hair. And SMILE.
• Skin– As a general rule, keep your skin clean and dry. Not sweaty or sticky.
• Hair– Again, clean and dry. Also, keep a tidy hairstyle.
• Nails– Nail art is great but avoid dirt under your nails. And cut nails in a
shape that doesn’t resemble talons.
• Feet– No cracked heels. No dirty toenails. Avoid smelly socks.
• Clothes– Well fitting and well ironed clothes. And always wear for your size,
not the size you want to be.
• Shoes– Wear shoes that don’t make you limp or drag your feet. 23
Activity
• A Not-So-Normal Encounter
What would happen if two characters in the class met for the
first time? Invite two students to the front of the classroom to
role play their characters. Ask another student to create a
situation in which the characters would meet (i.e. party, funeral,
church, red light, bus station, etc.). Next, have each student
spend 30 seconds providing an overview of their character to
the class. Students will spend two minutes role playing and
focusing on the dialogue and body language. Debrief as a class
and discuss if the dialogue and body language seemed
authentic for the characters.
