COVID-19 and flu can cause similar symptoms. However,
there are several differences between them. Both
COVID-19 and the flu are respiratory illnesses that
spread from person to person.

The novel strain of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) causes


coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19). People with COVID-
19 have reported a wide range of symptoms ranging
from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may
appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. The
common symptoms are cough, shortness of breath,
chills, fever, muscle pain and sore throat.

Influenza also known as "flu" is a contagious respiratory
illness caused by influenza viruses. People who have the
flu will typically experience symptoms within 14 days. It
can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead
to death. The common symptoms are fever, cough, sore
throat, runny nose, muscle pain, headaches and fatigue.

Compare the symptoms of COVID-19 and Flu using a


Venn diagram.
