Introduction
You can give a brief description of the topic you
want to talk about here. For example, if you want to
talk about Mercury, you can say that it’s the
smallest planet in the entire Solar System

wisdom that someone important
said and can make the reader get
inspired.”

Systems of linear
equations
Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and
the smallest one in the Solar System—it’s
only a bit larger than the Moon

Differential equations
Equation Solution
Y = 2x Y=x
Y + 3y = 6x + 11 y = e + 2x + 3
Y - 3y + 2y = 24e y = 3e - 4e + 2e
Understand the substitution method
The substitution method consists of isolating one of the two unknowns in one
equation to replace it in the other equation.
{
2x + y = ● Solve Equation 1 for y: y = 7 - 2x
7 ● Substitute y in Equation 2: 3x - (7 - 2x) = 1
3x - y = ● Simplify and solve for x: 5x = 8 ⇒ x = 8/5
1 ● Substitute x back into Equation 1: y = 19/5
● Solution: x = 8/5, y = 19/5
Substitution method
1. We isolate an unknown
2. We substitute the unknown in the other equation
1 2
4+x= 2x - y =
2y 1
x = 2y - 2 · (2y - 4) -
4 y=1
4y - 8 - y = 1
Substitution method
3. We solve the equation obtained
4. We calculate the other unknown by substituting
3 4
X = 2y -
4y - 8 - y = 1
4
3y - 8 = 1 x = 2y - 4 Solution:
{
3y = 9 X=2·3-4 x=2
