My Childhood Friends

Throughout my life I have met many people and have been friends with many also. The first group of friends I really connected with were at Park Ridge Christian School. The people consisted of Miller Chambers, Blake Morton, Joshua Steele, Paul Reinhardt, and Davis Almond. I first came to the school in 6th grade after being homeschooled for one year. It was an odd change, I was shy at first, because I didnt know if they would like me or not. Surprisingly they accepted me from the start and I became good friends with all of them. One certain boy became my friend for the rest of my life, Miller Chambers. Miller Chambers had been at the school all life, because his mom was a teacher there. Once me and him became friends we were inseparable, we were called left him and right hip at one point. Thats where everything started.

Stephen Miller Chambers

Meeting Miller Chambers was a changing point in my life, I became a happier person overall he was my best friend I had ever had. Going through 6th grade was easy, because I had so much fun, and I didnt get in much trouble. Once we got through 6th grade we started to get a little more rebellious. In seventh grade being very close friends we decided to run away from school one day. In the end that was one of our stupidest ideas, because I confessed and crazy Stephen Chambers was at the Police Stations filing a Police Report. After that we staid out of trouble for about a month and then we had fun messing with good ol Blake Morton. One day we decided we would mess around with Blake, so me and Miller got some wet paper towels and hit him with them. Shockingly we got away with it for 6 weeks straight. Every time we would go into the bathroom smack, Blake would get hit with a paper towel. One day this kid in 6th grade came into the bathroom and saw us hitting Blake with towels.

Miller Chambers Continued

At least we werent the only ones who thought it was funny, because the kid went back into his class laughing his guts out. Mrs. Phibbs, our favorite teacher, asked him what he was laughing at, and of course he told her. The next thing I remember was that Mrs. Phibbs came beside the bathroom door and started screaming for us. We all knew we were busted, we all came out looking like death smacked us in the face. Mrs. Starr was contacted of course, and we all knew what was next. All six of us sat in the class waiting for the crazy lady with the paddle to come. When she got there her face was red, and to describe it in one word she was pissed. Once she got there she interrogated us for half the day, it was not one of our best days. I dont remember if we got paddled or not, but since I have had Mrs. Starr for a Principal I am sure she beat the stuffing out of us. That was us Miller Chambers and Caleb Potts the rebels of the school, and I wouldnt have wanted it any other way.

Miller Chambers Again

Seventh grade ended finally, and we were on to the next one. I was excited one more year and then I was in high school. Me and Miller didnt get in any more trouble from then on, or at least serious trouble. Soon we were preparing for our first year of high school, with only a few more weeks left of 8th grade. Miller and I made sure that when we went to high school we would stick together, because the way most people make it out to be its a terrible place. Our first week of high school was very different from that of a Park Ridge day. For one thing I only had 2 classes with Miller, and we only saw each other a couple hours of the day. At first we were scared nobody would like us, but with our crazy/goofy personalities we became good friends with many people in our class, such as Harrison Barnett, Hans Honer, Chris Harper, Klay Rose, Adam Foreman, Isaac Russell and Akik Islam. After just a week we were all good friends and were sitting with each other at lunch.

The Boys of the Round Table

Freshman year was alright, with of course the usual comments, stupid freshman. Other than that it was okay, when we went to lunch Miller, Akik, Hans, Harrison, Adam, Klay, Issacc, and of course myself. As all freshman boys were we were pretty stupid, making stupid jokes and comments, which at the time we thought was hysterical. Being two years older and watching the freshman come into school now I feel slightly embarrassed by what we did freshman year, but since then I believe my whole group of friends has matured as a whole. Anyways, we all had a good time sitting in the Pfeiffer cafeteria everyday goofing off for 45 minutes, and then once lunch ended I must say we still goofed off more. Freshman year moved quick making stupid jokes and looking at girls like all boys do at our age, but it moved fast, because the next thing we knew it was sophomore year. The Boys of the Round still exist for the most part, minus Klay and Hans, we still talk about till this day.

Harrison Mack Barnett

Harrison Mack Barnett, one of my first friends at Gray Stone. I remember him the first day, tall, goofy, curly head cracker. I had two classes with him, P.E. and World History, we both enjoyed basketball greatly, so when we played basketball in P.E., you know we were being crazy. We both tried out for basketball, and we both were pretty good except he was better than I was. Playing basketball was a bonding experience for us, goofing off all the time, making jokes about Harrington and his jumping abilities. Sadly halfway through the year coach moved him up to varsity and I was left at JV. I still had fun, but it wasnt as enjoyable without him there, because he could actually score unlike the rest of us. Honestly I dont think it would have mattered, because we still lost by a lot regardless if he was on there or not. Today Harrison and I are still great friends, and yes we still make fun of Mr. Harrington.

Thomas Tilden Foster

Thomas Tilden Foster, The man of the hour as I call him, lives in my neighborhood in Uwharrie Point. Thomas and I met one day at a golf camp in my hood, and we were in a group together. I only remember seeing him once, but two years later I met him at a basketball wreck league in seventh grade. I was surprised to see him, but we became great friends once we got to know each other. He was pretty good, but I still think Im better than him till this day. One day after a game on Saturday I invited him over, and thats where it all started. Still to this day we hang out, probably more than we used to. Over spring break we both had a week off of school and we were joyous! I called him up and it was set for me to spend the night, little did I know but that was the one of six nights we stayed at each others houses. Till this day he and I are great friends, and he is one of the few people I can outlet my problems to without judging me.

Adam Christopher Foreman

I met Adam Foreman my freshman year at Gray Stone Day School. At first he and I were not good friends, because I thought he looked a little bit odd, but then he started to sit at our table. After getting to know him I found out he was a very cool guy, and we were also born in the same hospital which I thought was pretty cool. He is into a lot of politics, and Im glad he is, and I have learned a lot of new things from him. He is unlike most of my friends, because he lives a totally different life than us. His parents divorced when he was in 5th grade, and growing up in a Christian school I wasnt close to anybody whose parents were divorced. I see the way he lives, it seems he is very lonely at times, but Im glad he finds comfort in hanging out with Miller and I. I appreciate how my parents have stayed together so long, and Adam has become a good friend of mine all throughout high school.

Tanner Wilhoit
I met Tanner when I was just 12 years old. I went to a new church called Highland Baptist, and he became a member there just before I came. We first started hanging out in our Bible classes and became great friends. As I always have been, I was a big boy in seventh grade. His father approached me one day after school, and was talking about football. He asked if I had ever played, and I had one year, and then proceeded to ask if I wanted to. I was soon introduced to the Cabarrus Stallions Football team who were in an Independent league. Tanner and I became best friends while playing football, and we started staying at each others houses before games and car pooling together. If it had not been for him and his dad, I wouldnt have played football ever again, and now it is my passion and love. Till this day Tanner and I are great friends and car pool to practice four times a week.

Carson Snyder
I met Carson Snyder freshman year, but we had just talked a couple times when I was with Adam or Miller. We didnt really affiliate with each other, because we didnt really know each other. About a year ago I started hanging out with him, and I found out he is a really fun and genuine person to be around. We dont really hang out at school, because we dont have any classes or lunch together. We talk when we can, and if we are bored we call each other up and go hang out. He, like some of my friends, is very into politics, and one subject that always comes up when we talk is politics. He and I at first had different beliefs, but as I got to talk to him he and I met agreements on most things. He is a great friend, and he is really easy to talk to, and thats why I found him to be such a well rounded friend.

Dylan Nash Frick

Dylan and I have recently become good friends, like Carson, I have just lately started to hang out with him. We never talked to each other until the beginning of sophomore year, because we never had classes or lunch together. He and I have a very different relationship, because usually when we talk its almost always about politics. Dylan is the Stanly County teen Democrat, so when I dont understand something about politics I talk to him. He is a good vent when people judge me for what I believe, so when I need to talk to somebody I can go to him to have a genuine conversation. He lives in Norwood, so we only hang out when the rest of us are hanging out as a group. When we do hang out though, we have the best of times and always have great conversations. One of my most respected friends, I can already see Dylan has great aspirations of being a very successful person.

Pressley Laton
I met Pressley for the first time in seventh grade at my church, Highland Baptist. The first time I saw her she was honestly what I thought a very pretty girl, and my first memory of her was her shooting a basketball like a hoss. She and I talked very seldom, except at youth, but I always had a little crush on her. Once I got to high school I started to see her more, and yes she was still pretty, but I was dating the devil, Meredith Allen. Suddenly I could tell Meredith was acting different, and ironically I got Pressley to talk to her for me. Well, that didnt work because she dumped me the nest week. Shortly after that she and I started talking, we sparked off right out of the gate and I was hooked on her. We then proceeded to date a little bit, and once I got the guts to ask her out she actually said yes. So, here I am still with her today, and who I have pretty much told her every story of my life. We fight a lot, but I still think she's that pretty girl I saw shooting basketball the first time I ever saw her.
