Why should
you audition?​

• Develop your self-confidence


• Improve your performance skills
• Be part of an experience that is challenging,
but very rewarding
• Make new friends in different year groups
• You may learn something new about yourself
• It's FUN!!!
Music - at least one verse and chorus to a song
of your choice in the musicals genre. This can
be from The Wizard of Oz or your own choice.
What to Choose a song that showcases your ability and
appropriate vocal range.

Characters for Audition
• Dorothy - Female, strong singer who moves well.
• Scarecrow (female/male)–Excellent actor, singer/dancer, charming,
thoughtful, honest, clumsy.
• Tin Man/Woman (female/male)- Actor/singer/dancer. A kind-hearted
romantic.
• Cowardly Lion (female/male)- Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing.
• Glinda (female) – Actor/Singer (Soprano). Gentle, kind, maternal Good
Witch of the North.
• Wicked Witch of The West - Character Actor. Not afraid to be dramatic.
Evil/villain.

Tips for Acting Audition
• You only need to learn the lines that are highlighted yellow. Try your
hardest and prepare for your audition by practicing. We would
encourage you to memories the lines but if you need help with the
lines in the audition, do not worry.
• Be brave and take a risk! Wizard of Oz has larger than life characters-
be over the top and have fun!
• Use your face and body. Your facial expressions need to be big and
theatrical. If there is a stage direction which says your character
moves, do what it says. Try to avoid standing still/in one spot. Instead,
move around and use gestures.
• Watch the film/clips on YouTube to help out.
• Choose an audition slot by adding your name and
form to the audition sheets displayed in

• KS3 students can sign up for auditions during
sign-up morning break and lunch only
• KS4&5 students have the option to sign up for
auditions after school as well
• Turn up to your audition 5 minutes before ​
• All auditions will take place in the Music room
What • After auditions are completed, we will be
working towards casting students in their roles
