Definition
This is the term used to describe the internet when it is used to provide
software or space for storing information rather than relying on local
storage
Hosted application software refers to software that is installed,
hosted, and accessed from a remote server rather than on a user's local
machine. It is delivered over the internet and maintained by a service
provider Examples are

 Google work space that include applications like Gmail, Google


drive ,Google docs all hosted and accessed via cloud

 Microsoft 365 that provides word,excel,powerpoint along with


OneDrive for cloud storage

 Dropbox-A file hosting and sharing services that allow a user to store
files in the cloud and access them from any device

Benefits of Hosted application software


• Accessible from many types of connected devices
• Can include the use of online data storage to save files online
• Features that enable collaboration

Disadvantages
• Only accessible using the internet connection
• User experience can be affected by high latency or low bandwidth
• Not as many features as locally installed software

Online data storage, also known as cloud storage, refers to the practice of
saving data on remote servers accessible over the internet, rather than
storing it on local physical devices such as hard drives or USB

 Google drive,
 Dropbox,
 Microsoft OneDrive
