• A set of large sheets of paper that have stories,
Information About local events, Advertisements etc. and
that are folded together and sold everyday and every
week.
• Printed media Usually distributed weekly or daily in the
form of a folded book of papers. The publication is
typically sectioned off based on subject and content. The
most important or interesting news will be displayed on
front page of the publication. Include advertisement,
opinions, entertainment and other news.
Different types of newspaper
• National newspapers:-
Contain some national and
international news, bur focus on
news relating to a specific area of the
country.
• Regional newspapers:- Contain
some national and international
news, But Focus son fairly local
• news topics in detail. Usually around
towns, cities or groups of villages.
• Local Newspapers:- A which covers news the
whole country , together with international news

• Tabloid newspapers:- A Tabloid is a newspaper


with compact pages Size similar then broad
sheet(Half the size of broad sheet)Although there
is no standard for the precise dimensions of the
tabloid newspaper format. basically it is 16*11
inches.

• Broad sheet Newspapers:- The largest type of


newspapers cover whole national and
international news often in a serious or formal
way. It is cauterized by long vertical pages
typically 22 inches.
Magazines

• Magazines are publications, usually periodical


publications, that are printed or electronically
published. (The online versions are called online
magazines). They are generally published on a
regular schedule and contain a variety of content.
• Magazines are typically published weekly, bi
weekly, Bi Monthly, Or Quarterly, with a date on
cover that is later than the date it is Actually
published. They are often Printed in color on
coated paper and are bound with a soft cover.

General interest :-

 This type of magazine is published for a wide audience


and the focus is either on one or many different subjects.
Every general interest magazine is tailored for a specific
enthusiast reader. These are not only fun to read but also
provide information on topics where a common man
would like to read. Freelancers or staffs write stories and
articles and a lot of photographs and pictures are
included in it. Entertainment, viewpoint promotion and
product sale are the main ideas behind every general
interest magazines. Art magazines, Music magazines,
Men and women Magazines all are examples of this
Professional/Scholarly
publications:-
• Such magazines focus on academics. You can
get in-depth information on many subjects.
The format of providing information in a
scholarly magazine is serious and so the text
book alike. You will find more of graphs and
charts rather than pictures. Teaching and
providing help in researches is the main
purpose of scholarly magazines.
Sensational
Magazines:-
• You will find sensational magazines in a newspaper
like format. They are thin, but large in size as
compared to other magazines. Sensational magazines
are said to thrive on creating a stir. Flashy headlines
are used for attracting attention of the readers and the
main focus is on stories related to celebrities or any
other amazing stories. Freelancers or staffers write
these articles, which are usually more picturesque than
stories that are included in sensational magazines.
These are also known as tabloids.
Business
Magazines:-
• Many Business magazines are available only,
or predominantly, on subscription. In some
cases these subscriptions are available to any
person prepared to pay, in others free
subscription are available to readers who meet
a set of criteria established by the publisher.
This practice, known as control circulation, is
intended to guarantee to advisors that the
relationship is relevant to their needs.
 These are few basic magazine types that cover
almost every type of story. No matter what type
of magazine you read, it will certainly fit in any
of the above-mentioned categories. Knowing
something about the different magazine types
can help you locate easily the reading stuff you
like. Magazines are available on every possible
topic, you could think of. Whether you have a
passion for cars or bikes, you can find a long
list of magazines especially tailored for the
information needs of bikes or for car lovers.
• If you are looking for mouth-watering recipes
from world-renowned chefs or tips on
decorating your house, the market is full of
cookery and interior design magazines.
Magazines have a longer shelf life as
compared to newspapers. Usually the high
quality of paper used in magazines is much
better than newspapers and you can read it
whenever you like. You may have to pay more
for buying magazines, but these can be a great
companion when traveling on trains or buses.
