In 1855, he became a Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy at Mumbai’s Elphinstone College. He travelled to London in 1855 to become a partner in Cama & Co, opening a Liverpool location for the first Indian company to be established in Britain. INTRODUCTION Was a nineteenth-century activist who founded the Indian National Congress, Was the first British MP of Indian origin Mahatma Gandhi called Dadabhai Naoroji the “father of the nation,” Established Self-Rule or Swaraj as his objective. Phase 1 of his Indian Struggle Formulated the “drain of wealth” theory Drain of Wealth- “constant flow of national wealth from India to England for which India did not get adequate economic, commercial or material return.” Theory established in his book "Poverty and Un-British Rule in India," published in 1871 Phase 2 of his Indian Struggle Attempted to influence the British Parliament to Institute political reforms. He immersed himself in British politics Naoroji confirmed his landmark election to the house of Commons in 1892, An event noticed by colonial subjects around the world. The association had its branches in Bombay (Mumbai), Calcutta (Kolkata) and Madras (Chennai). He founded the Bombay Association Edited the newspaper Rast Goftar (Speaker of Truth). He started a magazine Dharma Marg Darshak Started movements against the Vernacular Press Act, the atrocious treatment of poor peasants by the Zamindars Phase 3 of his Indian Struggle Grew disillusioned with parliamentary politics and became more radical.
