Authentic assessments require

students to demonstrate their
knowledge and skills through
hands-on, real-world tasks and
applications, rather than just
recalling information.
Contextualized

These assessments are grounded in

authentic, relevant contexts that
mirror the way knowledge and skills
are used outside of the classroom.
Multidimensional

Authentic assessments evaluate a

range of skills, including critical
thinking, problem-solving,
collaboration, and communication,
not just content mastery.
Iterative

The assessment process often

involves multiple stages, feedback,
and opportunities for revision,
reflecting the iterative nature of

Authentic assessment involves evaluating students’
abilities to apply their knowledge and skills to real-
world, complex problem and tasks. This approach moves
beyond traditional tests and promotes deeper learning
and critical thinking. By designing assessments that
mirror authentic, real-world scenarios, educators can
better meausure students’ mastery of essential
competencies and their ability to transfer learning to
practical situations.
