HOW TO
SELECT A
RESEARCH
TOPIC?
Choosing an interesting research topic is your first
challenge. Here are some tips:
• Choose a topic that you are interested in! The research process is
more relevant if you care about your topic.
• Narrow your topic to something manageable.
• If your topic is too broad, you will find too much information
and not be able to focus.
• Background reading can help you choose and limit the scope
of your topic.
• Review the guidelines on topic selection outlined in your
assignment. Ask your professor or TA for suggestions.
• Refer to lecture notes and required texts to refresh your
knowledge of the course and assignment.
• Talk about research ideas with a friend. S/he may be able to help
focus your topic by discussing issues that didn't occur to you at
first.

Bloom’s Taxonomy
Bloom's taxonomy was developed to provide a common language for teachers to
discuss and exchange learning and assessment methods. Specific learning
outcomes can be derived from the taxonomy, though it is most commonly used to
assess learning on a variety of cognitive levels

General Objectives
This research aimed to assess suitable locations for building
rainwater harvesting systems in the Municipality of Mexico,
Pampanga, where farmers usually experience high operational costs
on fields during El Niño. Municipal councils, planning agencies, and
other stakeholders can use this information to design and develop
RWHS to minimize farming costs and provide more water during the
dry season.
Specific Objectives
1. To determine the different parameters in assessing suitable sites
for building RWHS
2. To classify and calculate the weight of parameters for each
determining factor
3. To evaluate the identified contributing factors based on their
weights of impact using AHP
4. To create a suitability map using Geographic Information System

The research aims to assess the flood risk in the Municipality of
Odiongan, Romblon, which usually experiences floods considering
relevant factors using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Through this
assessment, the municipal councils, planning agencies, and other
stakeholders can prepare flood mitigation plan to reduce the threat to
lives due to this natural hazard.
