OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to achieve the
following objectives with at least 80% level of proficiency:
• understand what is Multicultural and Global Literacy;
• explain the dimensions of Global competence;
• understand the relationship of multicultural and global
literacy to science;
• realize the importance of multicultural and global literacy;
• create a creative slogan that reflects the expanded view of
Multicultural literacy.

MUTICULTURAL LITERACY
 Multicultural literacy consist of a skills and ability to
identify the creatures of knowledge and their
interest(Banks, 1996) to reveal the assumptions of
knowledge, to view knowledge from diverse ethnic and
cultural perspective, and to use knowledge to guide
action that will create a humane and just world (Boutte,
2008).

Example.
 The celebration of various festivals that showcase the
country`s diverse cultural heritage.

Global literacy aims to address issues of globalization,
racism, diversity and social justice (Guo, 2014)

Example.
An example of global literacy in the Philippines is the
adoption of English as one of the official languages and its
widespread usage in various aspects of society , including
education, business, and media.
GLOBALIZATION
Refers to the process of increased interconnectedness and
interdependence among countries, economics, cultures,
and people worldwide. It involves exchange of goods,
service, ideas, and information across borders, leading to
the integration of economics and societies on a global
scale.
GLOBAL COMPETENCE
refers to the skills, values and behaviors that prepare
young people to thrive in a diverse, interconnected and
rapidly changing world..
The desire to participate in interconnected, complex and
diverse societies has become a pressing need
