Infrared Waves Infrared waves, also
called infrared lights, is discovered by
William Herschel in 1800. These
waves are part of electromagnetic
spectrum. It can’t be seen by the
What is human eyes, but we can detect it as
Infrared heat. Few objects can be so hot that it
waves? produces visible light; like fire! While
some objects are not as hot that the
colors can be only seen by infrared
waves. Take this picture as an
example.
Infrared Radiation has an array
of applications and uses, one of
the most handy is in sensing and
Uses and detection. Every object on earth
Application releases IR radiation in the form
s of of heat. Some of the common
Infrared ways of usage for IR involves
heat sensors, thermal imaging,
night vision equipments, and
infrared cameras.
The orange areas are said
to be the warmest while
the light-blue areas are the
coldest. Instruments such
as infrared cameras and
night vision goggles can
detect infrared waves.
Infrared lights are divided
into near, mid, and far-
infrared. Near-infrared light
is the closets in wavelength
to visible light, while far-
infrared is closer to the
microwave region of the
EM spectrum.
Infrared Uses
thermal
imaging Which
allows you to
see things at
dark just by
detecting the
heat of an
object
Nigh Vision Which is the
same example as thermal
imaging however this is a
different concept. Night
Vision allows you to see
things visible in the dark
while thermal imaging let
you see the temperature or
infrared radiation (heat) of
an object
