Life Sketch
• Vivekananda's childhood name was Narendranath Dutta, belonged to an
wealthy Bengali family in Calcutta.
• He was one of the eight children of Vishwanath Dutta and Bhuvneshwari
Devi. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, he was born on 12 January 1863.
His father was an attorney and an influential personality in society.
• Vivekananda was the first yogi to go to the United States in 1893 for the
Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago,
• Swami Vivekananda, revered as one of the most influential spiritual
leaders, died on July 4, 1902, at the age of 39.
