typically found within 10
to 15 degrees latitude of
the equator. It's
characterized by
consistently high
temperatures, abundant
rainfall throughout the
year, and high humidity.
The equatorial climate is primarily caused
by the Intertropical Convergence Zone
CAUSES OF (ITCZ), a belt of low Pressure where the
EQUATORI trade winds from the Northern and
Southern hemispheres converge. The
AL rising air in the ITCZ leads to the
CLIMATE formation of clouds and heavy rainfall.

TEMPERATURES
• Equatorial climate is basically a
climate of perpetual warmth.
Throughout the year, scorching sun
rays cause very high temperatures
to prevail in this region, averaging
between 26-28°C, corresponding to
79-82°F. High humidity adds to this
heat and lessens the difference
between day and night
temperature variations. In this kind
of seasonless climate, the year-
long persistence of heat creates a
thoroughly tropical atmosphere.

RAINFALL
• Water is equatorial climate's
lifeblood, mostly coming as
copious rainfall. A normal
quantity of over 2000 mm,
sometimes as much as 80 inches
of rain, is received annually and
distributed throughout the year
in most regions. Most of the rain
comes as heavy, often
convective showers and is often
accompanied by thunderstorms.
This amount of rainfall supports
high vegetation and a high
biodiversity that is commonly
observed in the equatorial
regions.
