SKETCHING OPTIONS
A. Creation Methods

1. Lines
Creates a straight line or a chain of connected line
segments.

Chain – Chains line segments when sketching so that


the last point on the previous line becomes the first
point on the next line

Creates a rectangle chain of line by picking 2
opposite corners

Sketches a polygon whose vertices are the
specified distance from the center

a radius in 2 directions

12. Partial Ellipse

13. Pick Lines


Creates a lines based on an existing line or edge
selected in the drawing areas

Offset
- The offset option works for drawing and picking.
When you select Pick and enter an offset Revit
Architecture offsets lines from the selected edges

Radius
- Type a value for the radius in the text box to
present it. With the radius specified, you can
create a circle in one click or a fillet with two
clicks

MODIFY TOOLS
1. Click Modify Tab >> Modify Panel

Move shortcut key (MV)


The Move tool works similarly to dragging.
However, it offers additional functionality on the
Options Bar and allows more precise placement.

To move elements with the Move tool
1. Do one of the following.
- Select the elements to move, and then under
Modify/ <Element> tab >> Modify panel click move
- Or click Modify Tab >> Modify Panel >> click Move
Select the elements to move then press enter
2. On the Options Bar, click the desired options:
- Restrict the movement of the element along vectors
that run perpendicular or collinear to the element
- Break the association between the selection and
other elements before moving

To move elements with the Move tool
3. Click once to enter a start point for moving.
(A preview image of the element displays.)

4. Move the cursor in the direction that you want the


element to move. (The cursor snaps to snap points.
Dimensions appear as guides.)
5. Click again to complete the move, or, for more
precision, type a value for the distance to move the
element, and press Enter

Copying Elements
Tips:
Revit Architecture provides several methods for copying one or
more selected elements.
- Select an element and, while pressing Ctrl, drag the element
to copy it.
- Use the Copy tool to copy elements and place them
immediately.
- Use the clipboard to copy and paste elements with Ctrl+C and
Ctrl+V
- Use the Create Similar tool to add a new instance of a selected
element
- Make a mirror copy of an element
- Copy an array of elements

Copying Elements with the Copy Tool
Copy shortcut key (CO)

The Copy tool copies one or more selected elements and


allows you to place copies in the drawing immediately
The Copy tool is different than the Copy to Clipboard tool
Use the tool when you want to copy a selected element
and place it immediately (for example, in the same view)
Use the Copy to Clipboard tool, for example, when you
need to switch views before placing the copies

To copy elements with the Copy tool
1. Do one of the following.
- Select the elements to copy, and then under
Modify/<Element> tab >> Modify panel >> click
Copy
- Click Modify tab >> Modify panel >> click Copy
2. Click once in the drawing area to begin moving
and copying the elements
3. Move the cursor away from the original
elements and toward the area where you want to
place a copy

To copy elements with the Copy tool
4. Click to place the copy or enter a value for the
listening dimension

5. Press ESC or click modify to exit the Copy tool


- Create multiple copies of an element every time
you click in the drawing area

Rotate shortcut key (RO)
Use the Rotate tool to rotate elements should an axis.

Tips
In the floor plan, reflected ceiling plan, elevation, and section
views, elements rotate around an axis perpendicular to the view

In 3D views the axis is perpendicular to the work plane of the


view.

Not all elements can rotate around any axis


For example, walls do not rotate in elevation view. Windows
cannot rotate without their walls

To rotate element
1. Do one of the following:
- Select the elements to rotate, Under Modify/
<Elements> tab >> Modify panel >> click Rotate
- Click Modify tab >> Modify panel >> click Rotate
select the elements to rotate and then press Enter
(A center of rotation symbols displays at the
center of the selected element)

2. If desired, drag the center of rotation symbol

To rotate element
Tips:
(The symbol snaps to points and lines of interest, such as
walls and the intersections of walls and lines. You can also
drag in onto open space.)

3. On the Options Bar, select any of the following:


- Break the connection between the selection and other
elements before rotating. (This option is useful, for example,
when you want to rotate one wall that is joined to another
wall)
- Rotate a copy of the selection. The original remains in place
- Specify the angle of rotation, and press Enter. Revit
Architecture performs the rotation at the specified angle.

To rotate element
- When you click the pivot point. But you can also
to specify the location of the pivot point. But you
can also specify the pivot point. But you can also
specify the pivot point when you click and drag
symbol. Click Default option when you want to
return the pivot point to its original location
