OPERATIONS.
Airport ground operations are the activities that take place at an airport
to ensure the safe boarding of passengers, cargo, and mail onto an
aircraft before departure. Ground operations include a variety of tasks.
In aviation, aircraft ground handling or ground operations defines the
servicing of an aircraft while it is on the ground and parked at a
terminal of an airport.

The major categories of ground
handling services are described below.

1. Cabin service.
2. Ramp service.
3. Passenger service.
4. Field operation.
5. Catering.
1.CABIN SERVICE.
Cabin service at an airport refers to
the ground handling services
provided by a company to ensure a
smooth passenger experience.
2. RAMP
SERVICE
Ramp agents are
responsible for loading and
unloading aircraft baggage,
guiding planes to and from
their gates, operating
baggage carts, de-icing
planes and performing
other airplane servicing
duties.
3. PASSENGER
SERVICE.
This includes services inside
the airport terminal such as:
• Providing check-in counter
services for the passenger
departing on the customer
airlines.
• Providing gate arrival and
departure services. The
agents are required to meet
a flight on arrival as well as
provide departure services
including boarding
passengers and closing the
flight.
• Staffing the transfer
counters, customer service
counters and airline
lounges.
4. FIELD
OPERATION.
This service dispatches
the aircraft, maintains
communication with the
rest of the airline
operation at the airport
and with Air Traffic
Control.

CATERING.
The main role of caterer
is to deals with in-flight
meals served to the
passengers to boarding
the flight. These meals
are prepared by
catering companies. And
are served to
passengers via trolley or
tray.
GROUND STAFF
The individual working in
ground duty branch are often
known as ‘Ground crew’ or
Ground staff. They work at
airports to keep airplanes
running efficiently. By
welcoming passengers to an
aircraft’s take off, airport
ground staff and air operations
personal play a crucial role in
areas such as commercial
activities and passengers
hospitality.
