INTRODUCTION TO SOFT COMPUTING
• Soft Computing is the reverse process of hard computing .It refers to
group of computational techniques that are based on Artificial
intelligence and Natural selection.

• It provides cost effective solutions to the complex real-life problems.

• The objective of soft computing is to provide precise approximation

and quick solutions for complex real-life problems.
CHARACTERISTICS OF SOFT COMPUTING
• Adaptive: Soft computing is adaptive in nature
• Low-cost: Soft computing can provide low-cost solutions to complex
problems
• Approximation and dispositionality: Soft computing has these
attributes
• Reduces dependency on expensive simulations: Soft computing can
reduce dependency on expensive traditional simulation packages
• Biologically inspired: Soft computing uses methods inspired by
biology, such as genetics, evolution, and the human nervous system
SOFT COMPUTING TECHNIQUIES

• Artificial Intelligence
• Fuzzy logic
• Genetic algorithms
FUZZY LOGIC
• Fuzzy logic is a mathematical framework that deals with uncertainty
and imprecision by allowing for degrees of truth (or) membership.

• Fuzzy logic is an approach to variable processing that allows for

multiple possible truth values to be processed through the same value.

KEY ASPECTS OF FUZZY LOGIC

1.Fuzzy sets

2.Linguistic variables

3.Fuzzy rules

4.Fuzzy inference
