According to the WHO, health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental, and
social well being not merely absence of disease.

In General, health is a source of living, encompassing physical abilities, social and


personal resources, mental and emotional well-being, allowing individual to realize their
aspirations, satisfy their needs and cope with the environment.
Wellness
According to the WHO, Wellness can be defined as an optimal state of health of individual
and groups.

In General, wellness is a comprehensive and dynamic concept that emphasizes the


integration of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and environmental aspects to achieve
optimal health and well-being.
Key aspects of Health
● Physical well-being - freedom from disease or pain

● Mental well-being - ability to cope with stress, acquire skills, maintain


relationship, and handle adversity

● Social well-being - ability to interact with other, participate in community


activities and maintain social connections
Key aspects of Health
● Existential well-being - ability to find meaning , purpose, and fulfillment in life

● Resilience - ability to adapt and recover from adversity


Key aspects of Wellness
● Holistic Approach - includes interconnectedness of physical, mental, emotional,
spiritual, and environmental dimensions

● Active Approach - ongoing process, requiring intentional choices and action

● Optimal health - seeks to achieve a state of maximum life and well-being, rather than
simply the absence of illness.

● Positive and affirming - proactive approach which focuses on growth and development
rather than diseases or illness
