The document discusses key scientific theories including relativity, which consists of special and general relativity proposed by Albert Einstein, and the atomic theory by John Dalton. It also highlights Charles Darwin's contributions to the theory of evolution, noting that many individuals contributed to the concept prior to his publication. Additionally, it touches on the role of hypotheses in research, providing an example related to study habits and test anxiety.

Relativity is two related

theories:
special relativity, which explains
the relationship between space,
time, mass, and energy; and
general relativity, which
describes how gravity fits into a
the mix. Albert Einstein
proposed these theories
starting in 1905. By the 1920s,
they were widely accepted by
physicists.

a theory of the nature of

of kinds and all the atoms of
the same kind are uniform in
size, weight, and other
properties.
Charles Darwin is
commonly cited as the
person who
“discovered” evolution.

seventy different

time. It explains how
organisms become

environments and
pass on their traits to

educated conjecture. It provides a tentative explanation of a
phenomenon under investigation.
For example, a researcher might be interested in the
relationship between study habits and test anxiety. The
researcher would propose a hypothesis about how these two
variables are related, such as "Test anxiety decreases as a result
of effective study habits."
