Angles and their types

The document provides an overview of angles, defining them as formed by two rays meeting at a vertex. It categorizes angles into five types: acute, right, obtuse, straight, reflex, and full angles, each with specific degree measurements. Additionally, it includes a quiz section to test knowledge on the topic.

ANGLES
An angle is formed when two rays are
joined together at a common point. The
common point here is called node or
vertex and the two rays are called arms
of the angle. The angle is represented by
the symbol ‘∠’.

ACUTE ANGLES
• An angle smaller than the right angle is called an acute angle. In
other words, the angle which is less than 90 degrees forms an acute
angle.
• Eg: Open mouth of a crocodile,

RIGHT ANGLE

• A right angle is an angle that is exactly equal to 90 degrees (or

π/2) in measure. We can see many real-life examples of the right
angles in our daily life. For example, the corner of a book, edges
of the cardboard, etc. Any shape that is a square or a rectangle,
will have its corners equal to 90 degrees or right angle.

OBTUSE ANGLE
In Mathematics, “an obtuse angle is an angle which is greater
than 90° and less than 180°”. In other words, an obtuse angle is
between a right angle and a straight angle.
8

STRAIGHT ANGLE

a straight angle is an angle equal to 180 degrees. It is called straight

because it appears as a straight line. In other words we can say that
2 right angles form a straight angle.

REFLEX ANGLE
A reflex angle is an angle that is
more than 180 degrees and less
than 360 degrees. For example, 270
degrees is a reflex angle.

FULL ANGLE
An angle whose measure is exactly
360° is called a full angle
