LESSON 1
TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION AND K TO 12
Lesson Objectives:
1. Explain how technology enhances learning
across different educational levels.
2. Analyze how the K to 12 curriculum fosters
21st-century skills for future careers.
3. Evaluate technology-driven strategies that
improve student engagement and learning
outcomes.
• 1. Strengthening Early Childhood Education
(Universal Kindergarten) - The program
ensures early education access, using technology
to teach basics through interactive activities in the
Mother Tongue.
• 2. Making the Curriculum Relevant to
Learners (Contextualization and
Enhancement) - A meaningful curriculum
connects lessons to students’ lives, future goals,
and emotions. Strategies include suspense,
student choice, real-life applications, and
technology integration to enhance engagement
and 21st-century skills.
• 3. Building Profiency (Mother-Tongue Based
Multilingual Education) - Maximizing technology
supports Mother-Tongue Based Multilingual
Education by enhancing learning materials.
Teaching in the mother tongue improves
engagement, cultural retention, and second-
language acquisition.
• 4. Ensuring Integrated and Seamless Learning
(Spiral Progression) - Spiral progression
strengthens retention and mastery by revisiting
concepts with increasing complexity. Integrating
technology with pedagogical and content
knowledge (TPACK) enhances learning, aligning
with students' cognitive development.
• 5. Gearing Up for the future - The K to 12
Curriculum ensures college readiness by aligning
courses with standards and developing
specialized tracks in academics, sports, arts, and
technical-vocational fields, supported by quality
education.
• 6. Nurturing the Holistically Developed
Filipino (College and Livelihood Readiness,
21st Century Skills) - K to 12 graduates are
prepared for further education, employment, or
entrepreneurship, equipped with 21st-century
skills. Effective curriculum implementation and
technological support for teachers ensure their
success.
LESSON 2
ICT - PEDAGOGY INTEGRATION IN
MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE LEARNING PLANS
Lesson Objectives:
1. Define ICT integration and its role in enhancing
teaching and learning.
2. Identify key ICT tools and methods used in
Mathematics and Science education.
3. Assess the effectiveness of ICT in improving
student understanding and engagement.
Integrating technology into
instructions concepts:
• 1. John Pisapia (1994) : “Integrating technology
with teaching means the use of learning
technologies to introduce, reinforce, supplement
and extend skills”
• 2. International Society for Technology
Education (ISTE) : “Effective integration of
technology is achieved when students can
choose appropriate technology tools to access
information quickly, analyze and synthesize
information and present it professionally, making
technology an integral part of the classroom
along other learning resources”
• 3. Margaret Lloyd (2005) : “ICT integration plays
a vital role in curriculum reforms, addressing both
infrastructure and teaching strategies and
reshaping not only the way learning happens but
also the content being taught”
• 4. Qiyun Wang and Huay Lit Woo (2007): ICT
integration can occur at the curriculum, topic, or
lesson level.
• 5. Bernard Bahati (2010): Successful ICT
integration requires a balance of pedagogical and
technological approaches, with a strong
emphasis on sound pedagogical principles.
• 6. UNESCO (2005): ICT integration is more than
just mastering hardware and software; it involves
structuring learning tasks to make ICT resources
an integral part of the learning environment.
ICT
Information and Communication Technology
• 1. Moursund (2005) - ICT encompasses
computer hardware, software, networks, and
telecommunications, including devices, digital
media, and automated systems that facilitate
communication and technological advancement.
• 2. Tinio (2009) - ICT comprises tools and
resources for communication, creation, storage,
and management of information, including
hardware, software, internet, broadcasting, and
telephony technologies.
• 3. UNESCO (2020) - ICT encompasses
technologies for transmitting, storing, and sharing
information, including computers, the internet,
broadcasting, and telephony. UNESCO defines it
as a discipline managing information and its
socio-economic impact.
• 4. Ratheeswari (2018) - ICT influences all
aspects of life, driving change in work, education,
and communication. In classrooms, it enhances
teaching, learning, and 21st-century skills,
helping teachers create engaging pedagogical
environments.
USING ICT
• Effective ICT integration enhances learning but
requires proper application to achieve intended
outcomes.
