INTRODUCTION TO IGBC

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) was formed by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2001 The
council is based out of the CII-Sohrabji Green Business Centre, Hyderabad which is India's 1st Platinum rated green
building and a Net Zero Energy Building

Mission :The IGBC's vision is to create a sustainable built environment for all and to make India a global leader in
sustainable building by 2025.

Services :The IGBC offers a variety of services, including: Rating systems: The IGBC develops rating systems for green
buildings, including Net Zero Energy, Net Zero Water, and Net Zero Waste to Landfill.

Events: The IGBC hosts an annual Green Building Congress.

Membership :The IGBC is made up of over 1,700 members, including architects, developers, contractors, and
consultants. Headquarters The IGBC is headquartered in Hyderabad at the CII-Sohrabji Green Business Centre, India's
first Platinum rated green building.

Benefits :Green buildings can offer many benefits, including: Energy savings of 20–30% Water savings of 30–50%
Improved air quality Enhanced daylighting Health and well-being of occupants Safety benefits

Certification :The IGBC offers precertification for projects at the design stage. The precertification rating is not
necessarily the same as the final rating
